Role Description

British Council Vietnam is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teacher to join our teaching team, teaching English for our upcoming projects. We value individuals who are committed to high teaching standards and professional growth. The ideal candidate is confident teaching all age groups across all levels, with experience in phonics and literacy being a plus. This role supports the delivery of quality English teaching and effective learning, contributing to the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.

Role Accountabilities

The role involves delivering high-quality English Language Teaching to Young Learners and Adults, ensuring lessons are engaging and meet their needs. It supports the British Council's reputation in global English Language Teaching, focusing on continuous professional development and using diverse resources and technologies. Adherence to policies like safeguarding, equality, and data protection is key. The role also includes maintaining positive relationships with students and colleagues, completing administrative tasks on time, and supporting the teaching centre’s goals while upholding Teaching Quality standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

• Essentials
• Undergraduate or University degree
• For Vietnamese Nationals only: Undergraduate or University degree major in English Language or Pedagogy of English
• TEFL-I qualification (CELTA or TESOL from Trinity College of London)
• Desirable
• Cambridge DELTA or TESOL Diploma Trinity College of London
  

Language Requirements

• High proficiency in English, full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 9 in each of four sections of the academic module.
• IELTS certificate is a mandatory requirement for Teachers who does not possess a BA or MA in English Language or Pedagogy of English. This does not apply to: British, American, Irish, Canadian, New Zealander, or Australian citizens (plus South African, Filipino if working in Ho Chi Minh)
  
  

Experience

• Essentials: At least 1 year post-qualification experience (600 hours) covering at least two of the following age-groups:
• Young learners aged 6 to 10
• Young learners aged 11 to 13
• Young learners aged 14 to 17
  

Important Information

• Contract length: 13 months
• Tentative Start date: To be confirmed
• Working location: Hanoi
• Salary package (gross per month): VND 34,922,500 to VND 38,357,500 gross per month depending on your qualifications and experience.
• Annual Leave: 12 working days per annum plus Vietnamese public holidays
• Reimbursable travel expenses if you are recruited from outside Vietnam: For employees taking up a part-time teaching role joining from outside Vietnam, any expenses incurred relating to travel to Vietnam, including airfare, baggage or temporary accommodation on arrival will be reimbursed against receipts up to a permissible allowance limit of USD1,500.
