Basic Job Functions:
Day-to-day interaction with Integration, Functional Areas teams within Manufacturing Engineering as well as cross-functionally with Development Engineering and Quality & Reliability departments to troubleshoot processes & HW related yield challenges. Perform daily sustaining of key manufacturing Yield and Alignment metrics in timely fashion. Define problem statement, develop short term containment and support the development of long term prevention solution to eliminate systematic yield issue. Identify and/or implement system, process and HW improvements that contribute to the achievement of production yield & alignment performance goals.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
· Develop, transfer new process & HW solutions to improve yield performance across multiple functional areas within Manufacturing Engineering
· Works with minimal supervision & maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers
· Responsible to interface with internal associates and supplier representatives as required to complete assigned Yield & Alignment projects
· Provide mentorship and assist in the development of junior engineers and technicians
· May have a small team of technicians reporting directly to this position
· Analyze data using sound statistical methodology to drive yield improvements and process/HW alignment
· Basic understanding of and ability to interpret the results from physical and electrical failure analytical techniques and various compositional analysis measurements
· Ability to identify and implement creative solutions to address yield challenges & improve alignment of process, HW & best practices globally
· Responsible to develop, continually improve, and document robust yield solution to achieve the highest product performance in a cost efficient manner
· Design and execute planned process experiments, collect and analyze data and report experimental results
· Support continuous improvement & global alignment activities using six-sigma and other statistical problem-solving methods
· Responsible for identify & solving day-to-day production yield & alignment issues related to equipment and process problems
· Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards
· Domestic and International travel as required

· Associates Degree in a technical discipline with 2 years as First Solar Manufacturing Engineer I or 3 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting, or 2 years Engineering experience and 6 years Technical experience in a manufacturing setting or
· Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 2 years as First Solar Manufacturing Engineer I or 3 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting or 2 years Engineering experience and 3 years Technical experience in a manufacturing setting or
· MS Degree in a technical discipline with 2-4 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting or
· PhD Degree in a technical discipline with 0-3 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
Required Skills:
· Demonstrated proficiency in Structured Problem Solving Method (such as DMAIC)
· Understands and can apply Design of Experiments
· Demonstrated skill in applying SPC to control and improve processes
· Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes
· Demonstrated skill with Statistical Data Analysis
· Demonstrated skill in Metrology and measurement best practices
· Ability to work autonomously to achieve goals
· Excellent oral and written communications skills
· Excellent problem solving skills
· Demonstrated capability to train operators, technicians, and new engineers
· Demonstrated understanding in maintaining and troubleshooting General Electronics and Mechanical Systems
· Preferred to have proficiency in Yield Analysis techniques and systems to identify areas of yield & alignment opportunity and the ability to work closely with process/integration/development/quality teams to improve yield and global alignment
· Preferred to have relevant semiconductor and/or PV module manufacturing experiences in at least one of the following fields: material handling & fully automated production equipment, servo motor controls, robotics/handling equipment, PLC's and precision alignment equipment, deposition and vacuum process & equipment know-how, heat treatment/thermal/wet chemistry and laser/lithography process/hardware experiences
