Job Descriptions

The Product Development will be responsible for developing furniture products from concept to production, creating detailed technical drawings, and compiling Bills of Materials (BOM) using Autodesk Inventor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in furniture design and engineering, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing products.

Design and Development

Develop innovative and functional furniture designs based on market trends, customer feedback, and company objectives.
Create detailed technical drawings and specifications using Autodesk Inventor.

Documentation and BOM

Prepare comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) for all designed products.
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all designs, drawings, and BOMs.

Cross-functional collaboration

Collaborate with the product development & design team to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and components, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Work with the sourcing team to identify and procure the best materials and components.
Collaborate with the sales team to understand market needs and ensure product designs meet customer requirements.
Coordinate with the quality team to ensure all products meet the highest quality standards and address any quality issues promptly.

Prototyping and Testing

Participate in prototype development and testing.
Make necessary adjustments to designs based on test results and feedback.
Provide technical support and guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.

Research and Compliance

Conduct research and stay updated on new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes

Requirements

Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or a related field.
Knowledge of sustainability practices in furniture design and manufacturing.

Skills

Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and other relevant CAD software.
Strong understanding of furniture manufacturing processes and materials.
Excellent technical drawing skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and creativity.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to furniture design.

Experience

Experience with other CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
Familiarity with furniture testing standards and procedures.
Experience in prototyping and product testing.
3-5 years of experience as a Furniture Engineer or in a similar role.
