POSITION OVERVIEW

The University Guidance Counselor is a vital member of our School's guidance team, responsible for providing comprehensive college and career counseling services to students in grades K-12. This individual will collaborate with faculty, staff, parents, and community partners to support students in identifying and pursuing their post-secondary goals. The University Guidance Counselor will facilitate educational opportunities, support the development of essential life skills, and empower students to make informed decisions about their future.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

1. College and Career Counseling

● Provide individual and group counseling to students regarding college selection, application processes, admission requirements, financial aid, and scholarships.

● Assist students in identifying their career interests, strengths, and goals through assessments and individualized counseling.

● Develop and maintain partnerships with colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions to facilitate student visits, admissions workshops, and information sessions.

● Educate students and parents on college admissions processes, standardized testing, and other relevant topics through presentations, workshops, and written materials.

● Maintain a comprehensive resource library on college and career-related topics for students, parents, and staff.

2. School-wide College and Career Readiness

● Collaborate with School staff to develop and implement a comprehensive K-12 college and career readiness curriculum, aligned with domestic and international standards.

● Coordinate and participate in School-wide events and initiatives that promote a college-going culture, such as college fairs, career days, and parent information nights.

● Work closely with the School's Faculty to monitor students' progress toward graduation requirements and post-secondary readiness.

3. Student Support Services

● Provide crisis intervention and support services to students as needed.

● Assist students in developing and refining academic, personal, and social skills necessary for success in post-secondary education and careers.

● Collaborate with community agencies to connect students with additional resources like tutoring, mentoring, and internship opportunities.

4. Professional Development and Collaboration

● Stay current on best practices in college and career counseling, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities through professional development, networking, and participation in relevant organizations.

● Collaborate with other school counselors and staff to provide a comprehensive support system for students.

● Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports as required by the School and relevant domestic and international education authorities.

5. Other Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team or Board of Management.
