And explain why this is your favourite sport.
Mở bài:
As I’ve said before, I don’t usually play sports. But if I have to choose a sport that I enjoy playing, it would be badminton. I’ve been playing it on and off since I was a child.
Thân bài:
In fact, I can’t even remember when I started because I was probably too young to even be forming proper memories. Now, I’m a sophomore at university, so I don’t have much time to play badminton as I have to study and work as well. But I’m still trying to stay as fit as possible, so I play it about three times a week with friends who are about my age.
Badminton is a very popular sport because it’s easy to learn. Simply, you hold a racket and hit a shuttlecock across a net. In badminton there are 5 types of discipline played with different rules and regulations including men’s single(1 vs 1), women single(1 vs 1), men’s doubles (2 vs 2), women doubles(2 vs 2), mixed doubles [2 vs 2 (one men and one women in a team)].
I guess I like badminton for many reasons but ultimately it’s hard to articulate why you really feel passionate about something that’s been with you most of your life. I enjoy the sense of achievement when I play well. What’s more, it also helps to lose weight because I can burn up to 500 calories in one hour by playing badminton. … and of course it’s just good to get some exercise on a sunny day.
Kết bài:
All of that adds up to making badminton my favourite sport.
And explain how you felt about this experience
Mở bài:
This topic reminds me of the match between our national football team and Malaysia’s in 2019, which is one of the most memorable football matches I’ve ever seen.
Thân bài:
This final match took place at My Dinh stadium, Ha Noi. At the time, our national football team had made it to the final game of the AFF cup and our opponent was Malaysia’s, which is a strong team in South-East Asia. VietNam had been thirsty for this cup for nearly a decade, so it was a very big day and everybody was both hopeful and nervous before the match. I watched it with one of my closest classmates and we went to a coffee shop quite early in the evening to watch it. In the first half of the match, the score was 1 nil goal thanks to the powerful volley in the penalty area from Duy Manh. In the second half, there were some substitutions in the rival’s team in the hopes of getting an equalizer, but the result remained unchanged as the rivals could not beat our goalkeeper. We, Vietnam, had finally become the champion after 10 years. The whole Vietnam went crazy, flocking to the street to celebrate our victory together.
Kết bài:
It was an unforgettable night, and I hope our country’s football team will gain more trophies in the future.
You should say:
Mở bài:
I have been a lifetime supporter of football, and since 2003, I have followed Manchester United as my favorite team.
Thân bài:
Ruud van Nistelrooy was the first member of the team whom I really respected. He was a Dutch striker renowned for his superb precision and effortless control of the ball. Van Nistelrooy is widely regarded as one of the finest attackers of all time. He has been the top scorer in three different UEFA Champions League seasons and is the sixth-highest goalscorer in the competition's history with 56 goals. He has also been the leading scorer in three separate European domestic leagues. So I was really excited when first watching him play during a televised match between Manchester United and Chelsea and he managed to score two goals against them, giving Manchester United a victory over their opponents. What surprised me most, however, was how those goals were scored by him. Thanks to his rapid pace and perfect timing and positioning, he wasted little time boxing in his opponents. As a result, he was able to score a goal literally every time. Obviously, this is the biggest reason I admire Ruud van Nistelrooy as an athlete.
Kết bài:
However, I also appreciate him for his professionalism and desire to win on the field, which is something that every professional footballer should have.
Well, although some people argue that competitive sports might be harmful to the overall development of the child, I think that’s an important part of life. Children are likely to learn to fight, to try their best to become gracious winners or strong losers. More importantly, they learn to maintain such valuable qualities such as determination, endeavour and teamwork.
From my personal perspective, I think an athlete should possess these characteristics, namely resilience, perseverance, and discipline. Pursuing a career in sports is not an easy and common path because they have to withstand intense pressure from both the public and their families. Therefore, any individuals following it should be perseverant and persistent because there are bound to be such obstacles such as injuries, low pay, and even hatred from sports spectators.
From my perspective, the primary reason why there are so few top athletes nowadays is that sports career is extremely hard to pursue. There might be so many good athletes in sports, but only a few can reach stardom because they have to face intense pressure from the public. Also, there are some unavoidable circumstances such as losing in the important competitions, not living up to the public’s expectations. I have witnessed many rising sports stars fail to overcome pressure, hence never living up to their full potential.
In my opinion, the following factors contribute to the success of a world-class athlete: hard work, talent, mentality, and luck, the importance of each factor follows the same order. We all have heard numerous stories elite sportsmen tell about how hard work pays off and it’s completely true. The only thing an athlete can and should do is to practice and train as arduously, and strenuously as possible and hope that everything else would fall in line.
