Ý tưởng bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Topic Public Transport Part 2

Describe a popular mode of public transportation in your country

You should say:

  • what kind of transport it is
  • what types of people use this transport
  • how convenient it is

and explain whether you like it or not.

Answer 1: Public Bus

The most popular mode of public transportation in Vietnam would definitely be the public bus. The ridership is incredibly diverse. Students use them to get to and from school, while elders rely on them for daily errands and appointments. In terms of convenience, public buses in Vietnam are undeniably very convenient. They have an extensive network that reaches most corners of the city, and the fares are quite affordable. You can literally hop on a bus and get almost anywhere you need to go, which is a big plus.

However, I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of public buses. Firstly, they can get incredibly crowded, especially during rush hour. It's like being packed like sardines! Sometimes, you barely have enough space to breathe, let alone hold on properly.

Secondly, buses can be quite unreliable during peak hours. They get stuck in the same horrendous traffic jams as everyone else, which throws their schedules completely out of whack. Waiting for a bus that might not even show up for ages can be a real test of patience.

So, while they're undeniably convenient and play a crucial role in the city's transportation system, the crowds and unreliability during peak hours make me think twice before hopping on a public bus.

Vocabulary.

  • Ridership (noun): Lượng hành khách
  • Diverse (adjective): Đa dạng
  • Elders (noun): Người cao tuổi
  • Errand (noun): Việc vặt
  • Extensive (adjective): Rộng lớn
  • Network (noun phrase): Mạng lưới

  • Horrendous (adjective): Khủng khiếp
  • Throw ... out of whack (idiom): Làm rối loạn

Answer 2: Technology motorbike taxi

In Vietnam, the technology motorbike taxi is a highly popular mode of public transport. Essentially, it is a ride-hailing service that can be accessed through smartphone apps. Students, young professionals, and even families with small children can all be seen using them.

What makes them so popular is their sheer convenience. Hailing a ride is as simple as tapping a few buttons on your phone, and within minutes, a motorbike driver arrives at your location. They're incredibly omnipresent, navigating even narrow alleys and reaching places that traditional taxis might struggle to access. This makes them a lifesaver, especially when you're running late or need to avoid rush hour traffic jams.

Personally, I love them! They're a fantastic way to get around the city efficiently. It's so much faster than waiting for a bus, and often more convenient than driving yourself, especially when it comes to finding parking. Plus, they're a relatively affordable option, especially for short trips.

Overall, technology motorbike taxis are a game-changer when it comes to getting around in Vietnam. They're convenient, quick, and a great way to experience the city from a unique perspective.

Vocabulary.

  • Technology motorbike taxi (noun): Xe ôm công nghệ
  • Ride-hailing (noun): Gọi xe
  • Omnipresent (adjective): Có mặt khắp nơi
  • Alley (noun): Ngõ, hẻm

How to encourage more people to take public transport?

Answer: I definitely think there are ways to make public transport more appealing! Firstly, improving the infrastructure is key. Building a designated lane for public buses would make them a more reliable option, especially during rush hour. People wouldn't have to wait ages, which is a major turn-off for many. Secondly, making the ticketing system easier to use would be a big plus. Imagine contactless payments or reloadable travel cards - it would save time and be super convenient!

Answer: I see a future where public transport becomes more integrated with technology. Imagine being able to plan your entire journey using a smartphone app, seeing real-time traffic conditions, and even purchasing tickets electronically. It would be seamless and stress-free! Additionally, I believe there will be a bigger push towards sustainable options like electric buses and even self-driving vehicles. It would be a win-win for the environment and traffic congestion.

Which mode of transportation do you believe to be the safest? Why?

Answer: Hands down, I think trains are the safest mode of public transport. They have well-maintained tracks, clear safety regulations, and rarely get involved in accidents. Plus, modern trains are designed with advanced safety features like automatic braking systems. Compared to cars or motorbikes, trains offer a much more secure travel experience.

Vocabulary.

  • Hands down (idiom): Chắc chắn
  • Well-maintained (adjective): Được bảo trì tốt
  • Regulation (noun): Quy định
  • Brake (verb): Thắng

Should a nation's government prioritize road or rail transportation more? Why?

Answer: n my opinion, governments should prioritize developing a strong rail network. For one, trains are a much more efficient way to move large numbers of people, especially in densely populated areas. They can significantly reduce traffic congestion on roads, which is a major headache in many cities. Secondly, rail transport tends to be more environmentally friendly. Electric trains produce fewer emissions compared to the countless cars on the road. It's a win-win for both traffic and the environment.

Vocabulary.

  • Efficient (adjective): Hiệu quả
  • Densely (adverb): Dày đặc
  • Populated (adjective): Đông dân
  • Congestion (noun): Tắc nghẽn

What are the pros and cons of low-cost air travel?

Answer: Low-cost airlines have definitely made travel more accessible for many people. Passengers can now fly to exciting destinations for a fraction of the price! It's opened up a whole new world of possibilities for budget travelers. However, there can be a few drawbacks. Firstly, strict baggage restrictions can be a pain, forcing you to pack light. Additionally, hidden fees for things like seat selection or checked luggage can add up quickly, so it's important to read the fine print carefully.

Vocabulary.

  • Accessible (adjective): Dễ dàng tiếp cận
  • Fraction (noun): Một phần nhỏ
  • Baggage (noun): Hành lý
  • Restriction (noun): Hạn chế
  • Hidden fee (noun phrase): Phí ẩn

How easy is it to travel around your country?

Answer: Vietnam is becoming increasingly easy to travel around. There's a growing network of highways connecting major cities, making road trips a popular option. Additionally, domestic flights are becoming more affordable, opening up travel to remote areas. However, public transportation options like buses and trains can be a bit hit-and-miss, especially outside major cities. They can be slow and unreliable at times.

  • Network (noun): Mạng lưới
  • Highway (noun): Cao tốc
  • Domestic (adjective): Nội địa
  • Hit-and-miss (adjective): Không ổn định
