About The Role (What You Will Get To Do)

The Manager, Data Engineering will lead the technical execution of our roadmap, design, engineering, and implementation of the back-end components, data tier and API at the core of Persefoni’s SaaS Climate Management & Accounting Platform. This person will oversee part of our Engineering team supporting Persefoni’s SaaS products and associated tools. This will be a highly collaborative and visible role working across our global organization to develop, manage, and support the Pro and Advanced platform, data and API tiers.

Responsibilities (What We Expect)

• Oversee the translation of product features, carbon accounting standards, and related data sets into great user experience, scalable data models, data architectures, and API functions.
• Provide technical oversight and leadership to the Engineering and AI & Machine Learning teams especially utilizing Go, Python, Amazon Web Services, MySQL, Snowflake, and Databricks.
• Deliver according to prioritized feature, integration and analytical data platform roadmaps for both Persefoni SaaS products and supporting tools and features.
• Build, secure, and document a highly usable, scalable, and reliable public API for those customers wanting to utilize Persefoni’s capabilities without the assistance of the Persefoni front end interface.
• Collaborate with a global team of Software Engineers (front end), Product Management (product leadership), Quality Assurance (testing), Cloud Architecture, and DevSecOps to deliver Persefoni’s Climate Management & Accounting Platform with increasing speed and quality.
• Help scale the existing Vietnam Engineering team while ensuring engineering and delivery maturity, and strategic alignment with business objectives.
• Attract, onboard, lead, develop, and grow technical engineering talent.
  
  

Qualifications (What You Bring To The Role)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years relevant software and/or data engineering.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership experience; leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
• Significant experience delivering with modern technology solutions including Amazon Web Services, MySQL, Snowflake, SQL, Go, Python, Databricks, microservices, containerization, data virtualization, data streaming, data warehouses, data lakes, and business intelligence platforms.
• Highly proficient in API and database design including modeling, processing, querying, services and architecture.
• Proven software and data leader who has built and managed high performing teams, instilling confidence, focus, and collaboration on a growing team.
• Deep experience managing technical organizations delivering software for an enterprise scale product. SaaS industry experience preferred and product-led growth experience a plus.
• Experience leading a global engineering team composed of employees and contractors across multiple time zones.
• Experience delivering with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
  
  

How You'll Know You’re on the Right Track

• Within your first month, you’ll develop a deep understanding of the existing database architecture and backend code that supports the Persefoni SaaS platform as well as the history and future requirements for the next version of the technical architecture.
• By your second month, you will be meeting with the global Product and Engineering leadership team on a regular basis to understand the current feature prioritization and ongoing updates to our technical architecture. You will also have started reviewing existing code and database configurations and made recommendations to develop features in a scalable manner appropriate with our goals.
• Within six months, you will be establishing designs and architectures for the next set of product features from initial engineering review through to release.
