Job Description – Demand & Supply Planning Manager (F&B Retail Chain)

1. Job Description:

The Demand & Supply Planning Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the demand and supply planning processes for an F&B retail chain. The primary goal is to ensure that products are available in the right quantities at the right time to meet customer demand, maintain inventory levels, and ensure operational efficiency across all store locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Planning:

Forecast product demand based on historical sales data, market trends, promotions, and seasonality, taking into account specific requirements for each store location.

Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Store Operations teams to update demand forecasts, especially for new product launches, seasonal promotions, and marketing campaigns.

Adjust demand plans based on real-time sales data and store-specific insights to ensure stock availability and minimize stockouts.

Monitor and evaluate the accuracy of demand forecasts, providing recommendations for improvements in the forecasting process.


Supply & Inventory Planning:

Develop supply plans that ensure products are available at the right stores, optimizing both central and regional inventories.

Work with Procurement, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to ensure timely replenishment of products to meet forecasted demand.

Monitor inventory levels and ensure that stock is distributed efficiently across all store locations, minimizing excess stock or shortages.

Implement and optimize stock rotation, especially for perishable items, to maintain product freshness and minimize waste.


Supply Chain Performance Management:

Track and analyze key supply chain performance metrics (KPIs) such as Inventory Turnover, Fill Rate, Stockouts, and Order Lead Time.

Identify and address inefficiencies in the supply chain and inventory management processes to improve service levels while reducing costs.

Collaborate with Store Managers to review and adjust inventory needs based on local sales trends, weather patterns, and other influencing factors.


Systems & Technology:

Utilize planning tools and systems such as SAP, Oracle, or specialized F&B retail management systems to optimize demand forecasting and supply planning.

Leverage AI/ML technologies to enhance demand forecasting accuracy and streamline inventory management processes.

Recommend and implement improvements in technology and process automation to increase operational efficiency across the supply chain.

2. Job Requirements:

Technical Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Economics, or a related field.

At least 5 years of experience in Demand & Supply Planning, with a minimum of 2 years in an F&B retail chain or a similar retail environment.

Experience in demand planning for multiple store locations, taking into account regional preferences and varying demand.

Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and specialized retail inventory management tools.

Strong skills in Excel (pivot tables, macros) and data analysis tools (Power BI, SQL).


Skills & Competencies:

Strong ability to analyze sales data, forecast demand, and develop actionable supply chain strategies.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Store Operations, Procurement, and Logistics teams.

In-depth understanding of the F&B retail industry, including the unique challenges of managing perishable goods and fast-moving inventory.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues in demand and supply planning and implement effective solutions.

Fluent in English with strong communication skills, particularly in an international or multi-store chain environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with multi-location retail chains, preferably in the F&B sector.

Familiarity with retail-specific forecasting models and systems.

Certifications in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) or related fields.

Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
