Cấu trúc It is said that trong tiếng Anh là một trong những dạng cấu trúc ở thể bị động, thường được dùng khi muốn kể lại về điều gì đó hoặc để tường thuật tin tức.
Vậy It is said that nghĩa là gì? Cụm từ “It is said that” mang nghĩa là “người ta nói rằng, được nói lại rằng, được ám chỉ rằng, được cho là”.
It is said that = It’s said that
Ví dụ:
Cấu trúc It is said that được sử dụng để kể lại hay tường thuật lại sự vật/ sự việc/ hiện tượng nào đó đã xảy ra nhằm cung cấp thông tin cho người nghe.
Cấu trúc này thường dùng trong câu bị động và chủ thể của hành động được nhắc tới không phải người nói. Ví dụ:
Cấu trúc It is said that dạng chủ động:
People (they/someone) + say (said) + that + S2 + V2 + O2
Cấu trúc It is said that dạng bị động:
It is said that + S2 + V2 + O2
S2 + am/is/are (was/were) + said + to V (to have + V3) + O2
Ví dụ:
=> It is said that Mrs. Jenny is a generous woman.
=> Mrs. Jenny is said to be a generous woman.
=> It is said that Peter and his wife have been divorced for 3 years.
=> Peter and his wife were said to have been divorced for 3 years.
Mệnh đề theo sau cấu trúc It is said that có thể được chia ở bất cứ thì nào phụ thuộc vào ngữ cảnh của câu.
Ví dụ:
=> It is said that Kathy studies Math very well.
Trong câu trên, mệnh đề sau cấu trúc It is said that được chia ở thì hiện tại đơn. Ví dụ:
=> It was said that Peter traveled to Vietnam last week.
Trong câu trên, mệnh đề sau cấu trúc It is said that được chia tại thì quá khứ đơn.
Khi chuyển câu từ dạng chủ động sang câu bị động, ta cần chú ý động từ “say” trong câu chủ động được chia ở thì nào thì động từ to be trong câu bị động cấu trúc It is said that phải được chia ở thì đó.
Ví dụ:
=> It is said that the IELTS test is very difficult.
Trong câu ví dụ trên, từ “say” ở câu chủ động được chia ở thì hiện tại đơn nên động từ tobe của câu bị động cũng chia ở thì hiện tại đơn.
Ví dụ:
=> It was said that Harry went out with his friend until 11 pm.
Trong câu trên, từ “said” trong câu chủ động được chia ở thì quá khứ đơn nên động từ to be ở câu bị động cũng được chia tại thì quá khứ đơn.
