Sourcing Manager - Vendor Development (Based in Vietnam)

My client is a globally recognized discount retailer known for offering high-quality products at unbeatable prices. With a strong presence across international markets, they are now expanding their sourcing capabilities in Vietnam and seeking a skilled Sourcing Manager (Hardgoods) to lead vendor development and ensure consistent product excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively identify and assess potential vendors in Vietnam, with a focus on those capable of delivering high-quality hardgoods. Evaluate manufacturing capabilities, production capacity, compliance standards, and overall product quality.
• Ensure all suppliers meet global quality benchmarks and internal compliance requirements. Work closely with QA teams to maintain product integrity from concept through delivery.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives by aligning vendor capabilities with business goals. Drive negotiations and cost optimization while maintaining product excellence and manufacturability.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and competitive dynamics in Vietnam's manufacturing landscape. Identify emerging suppliers and market opportunities that align with product innovation and sourcing strategies.
• Partner closely with global sourcing, merchandising, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of local supplier operations into global workflows.
• Use performance metrics and analytics to monitor vendor performance, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement in sourcing outcomes.
• Regularly visit factories and conduct audits to evaluate production processes, foster relationships, and ensure alignment with company standards.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing or vendor management, preferably in consumer goods.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and onboarding high-quality manufacturers in Vietnam.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must, working knowledge of Mandarin or Chinese is a plus.
• Prior experience in a global retail or trading environment preferred.
• Deep understanding of Vietnam's manufacturing ecosystem and sourcing landscape.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented with a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Vietnam and internationally.
• Working location: HCMC, Vietnam
