A – Job summary
The Engineering Technician is responsible for the maintenance of the machines in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) labs, for organizing the booking of rooms, and for the safe use of machines and equipment by students and teachers. They prepare materials as needed by the CSE teachers and order materials as needed. They work closely with the CSE teachers, the CSE Intellectual Development Leader (IDL) & Director of Educational Technology to make sure students enjoy learning in a safe and caring setting.

B – Essential duties and responsibilities
1. Planning and Preparation
● Demonstrating knowledge of the SSIS Mission, Core Values, and Curriculum Framework
● Demonstrating knowledge of faculty, staff, and students
● Demonstrate knowledge of CSE-related resources within the school and Vietnam
● Demonstrate high school level knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and science
● Follow a maintenance schedule for checking and servicing machines and tools in-house and update maintenance records.
● Organize maintenance of machines with service providers and use their support materials to maintain proper working use of and maintenance of machines and tools.
● Support students and teachers in the use of material tools and machinery.
● Work closely with the CSE Teachers, Director of Education Technology and CSE IDL

2. Classroom Environment
● Contribute to a positive CSE Lab and school environment, including assisting students with practical or interpersonal problems and supporting positive behavior throughout the school.
● Contribute to a culture of academic excellence, particularly in CSE Lab.
● Establish and support all CSE-related procedures to ensure smooth management of the Maker Space and related facilities.
● Manage student behavior: supervise and help students learn respectful behavior in the CSE Lab.
● Enhance the learning environment of the STEAM-related areas: prepare lesson supplies/materials/equipment, display interactive learning displays in room and hallways, locate and/or purchase local materials, organize and retrieve store room supplies.

3. Instruction
● Communicate with students; establish positive relationships.
● Coach students in the use of machines and tools.
● Use questioning and discussion techniques that promote critical thinking, design thinking, and scientific method
● Support teacher to instruct students in lessons when needed
● Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in a dynamic learning environment

4. Professional Responsibilities
● Maintain accurate records, including schedules, use of facilities, materials, and supplies
● Communicate with faculty and staff, including the purchasing and accounting department
● Maintain effective relationship with faculty and colleagues
● Participate in the professional community, connect with all members of the school community
● Grow and develop professionally, become a better educator. This includes obtaining training on the correct and safe use of resources and equipment, as needed.
● Demonstrate professional behavior, including dress, speech, and interactions.
● Support Arts and STEM in CSE lab when needed
● Execute assignments from time to time, report to IDL
