Cấu trúc Both and là gì? | Cấu trúc, cách dùng, phân biệt cấu trúc Both and với Either or, Neither nor và bài tập vận dụng
Khi người sử dụng muốn đề cập đến hai đối tượng đồng vị với nhau và muốn nhấn mạnh đến ý nghĩa “cả 2” thì ta dùng cấu trúc Both and. Vì thế, cấu trúc Both and trong tiếng Anh có thể tạm dịch nghĩa là “ vừa…vừa…” hoặc “ cả…lẫn….”. Ví dụ:

Công thức 1:
Both (of) + Danh từ số nhiều
Khi đi với danh từ số nhiều thì bạn có thể lược bỏ “of”. Ví dụ:

Both of + Đại từ tân ngữ số nhiều
Khi đi với đại từ tân ngữ như you, them, us… thì ta không được lược bỏ “of”. Ví dụ:

1. Cấu trúc Both and có vai trò là một liên từ
Cấu trúc Both and được sử dụng đóng vai trò là liên từ liên kết các câu độc lập có chung ý nghĩa với nhau, nhờ đó giúp câu văn trở nên ngắn gọn và rõ nghĩa hơn. Ví dụ:
2. Cấu trúc Both and dùng để nhấn mạnh số lượng 2 người/đồ vật
Cấu trúc Both and được dùng khi bạn muốn nhấn mạnh số lượng 2 người hoặc 2 đồ vật gì đó. Khi bạn sử dụng cấu trúc Both and, người nghe cũng sẽ tự động hiểu số lượng là 2.

3. Cấu trúc Both and đứng đầu câu hoặc sau động từ chính
Vị trí của cấu trúc Both and đó là đứng đầu câu hoặc đứng sau động từ chính của câu. Hãy lưu ý điều này để áp dụng viết câu cho chuẩn và không sai. Ví dụ:
Có thể thấy trong ví dụ trên thì cấu trúc Both and đứng sau động từ chính là “can”.
Trong quá trình làm bài tập, nhiều bạn nhận thấy các cấu trúc này khá giống nhau và dễ nhầm lẫn. Tuy nhiên, về nghĩa của chúng thì lại hoàn toàn khác nhau, hãy cùng 1900 phân biệt trong bảng dưới đây:
