Từ nối trong Tiếng Anh là gì?
Từ nối (Linking words) là những từ dùng để gắn kết các cụm từ, mệnh đề và câu văn với nhau. Giúp câu văn, đoạn văn có tính mạch lạc, liên kết.
Do đó, đây là yếu tố ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến chất lượng bài viết cũng như thang điểm bài thi của bạn. Không chỉ cần thiết trong các bài IELTS Writing task 1 mà từ nối cũng cần được chú ý trong các bài IELTS Writing task 2.
Những từ nối thông dụng trong IELTS Writing task 1
Thêm thông tin – Adding information
Đối với chủ đề này chúng ta có các dạng từ nối cơ bản sau:
- Liên từ: and, as well as
- Trạng từ: also, anyway, besides, furthermore, in addition, likewise, moreover, similarly
- E.g: Eating a lot of fruit helps pregnant women supplement many vitamins needed during pregnancy. Moreover, there are some fruits that also help mothers to deal with pregnancy vomiting.
Hậu quả – Sequencing
Yêu cầu nêu lên hậu quả và cách khắc phục hậu qua gây ra cũng nằm trong số các chủ đề thường gặp khi thi IELTS Writing. Một số cụm từ nói được sử dụng phù hợp trong ngữ cảnh này là:
- Trạng từ: first, next, after that, then; firstly, secondly, finally
- “Firstly”, “secondly” và “finally” được sử dụng để sắp xếp các điểm trong một đối số.
- “First”, “next”, “after that” và “then” mô tả thứ tự các hoạt động trong một quy trình.
- Ed: First, agricultural products are harvested by hand and then transported to the factory
Nguyên nhân, lý do, kết quả – Cause, reason, result
- Liên từ: because, so
- Trạng từ: therefore, consequently, so, thus, as a result
- Giới từ: because of, due to, on account of, owing to
E.g:
- Pregnant women should eat more foods containing omega-3, because it is good for the brain development of the fetus. (reason)
- Omega-3 is good for the brain development of the fetus, so eat a lot. (result)
Contrasting: Tương phản
- Liên từ: but, although, though
- Trạng từ: alternatively, however, in contrast, nevertheless, on the contrary, on the other hand, yet
- Giới từ: in spite of, despite
Chúng ta sử dụng nhưng giữa hai ý tưởng tương phản:
- E.g: For a long time, fish has been given a good food for pregnant women during pregnancy, but if you eat more than the allowed portion, it will have the opposite effect
Mặc dù có thể đến lúc bắt đầu hoặc ở giữa hai ý tưởng tương phản. Chúng ta sử dụng dấu phẩy giữa hai mệnh đề:
- E.g: Although fish contains many good nutrients during pregnancy, we should not eat too much
Đưa ra ví dụ – Giving examples
- Trạng từ: that is to say, in other words, that is (i.e.), for example
- Chúng tôi sử dụng các biểu thức này để liên kết hai mệnh đề cung cấp cùng một thông tin theo một cách khác hoặc để đưa ra ví dụ:
E.g: There has been some controversy recently about the benefits and risks of fish consumption. for example, we know that fish supplies us with polyunsaturated fatty acids, substances that might protect against heart disease.

- To conclude, I recommend that the only sensible way to solve this problem is to educate young people about the dangers of drug use, and to take steps to reduce the pressure of competition placed upon them.
- In conclusion, nuclear technology certainly has positive uses but is nonetheless dangerous. However, it would have been better if it had never been used to create nuclear weapons. If life on Earth is to continue, all the nuclear nations of the world should agree to disarm as soon as possible.
