To be completely honest with you, history has never been my cup of tea. Partly because back when I was in high school, my history classes were dead boring. However, there was one historical event that left a lasting impression on me. That was the Reunification Day, which took place on April 30th 1975.
After North Vietnamese forces successfully overran numerous provinces in Central Highland and near Saigon , the Politburo in Hanoi issued an order to launch the final attack on Saigon called the “Ho Chi Minh Campaign,” By April 27, the North Vietnamese troops, under the command of General Van Tien Dung, seized the key facilities and strategic points around Saigon. They advanced into downtown Saigon at dawn on April 30 and met little resistance. About noon, a column of tanks of the North Vietnamese army crashed through the gate of the Presidential Palace, forcing Saigon government to surrender unconditionally. At half past eleven, Vietnam’s flag was raised over the Presidential Palace, marking the victory of the historic “Ho Chi Minh campaign”
This event is considered a significant milestone in Vietnamese history because it marked the end of the Vietnam War, which lasted over 2 decades and claimed millions of Vietnamese lives. Another reason is that North and South Vietnam, after many years of separation, were formally unified as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. From then on, April 30 is celebrated as a national holiday in Vietnam and public celebrations are held annually to commemorate the reunification between the two regions as well as to pay a tribute to brave soldiers who sacrificed during the war.

Since the Vietnam War ended in 1975, one of our nation’s historical high points, I am always happy to discuss it whenever I am asked about history.
The last war before a new period of peace and independence is established for us in Vietnam after hundreds of years of colonization by foreign invaders. There are a number of reasons why it is a memorable time in history. First and foremost, it’s the Vietnamese people’s valiant spirit of resistance.
Our nation was split between a northern and a southern region. People were living in squalor and terrible conditions all over the country at the time, and communication was nearly impossible. However, with the assistance and support of regular people, our warriors continued to fight valiantly.
Second, this is amazing considering how few people could believe that we won the war. We never imagined that we could actually overcome them against such a well-armed nation as America. We now have our own peace back thanks to the nation’s will, nevertheless. We won our freedom from the invaders on April 30th, 1975, and ever since then, we have conducted a festival to honor those who gave their lives defending the nation. I wish the Vietnamese people would never forget this significant national turning point.

I’m having a lot of trouble answering this question. It’s humiliating to admit, but I don’t know the first thing about history. Of course, I studied history in school, but the majority of it kind of escaped my attention. I find this question to be quite challenging.
After that, I suppose I may inform you of a historical period or, more precisely, an occasion that everyone is expected to be aware of: it is the Independence Day of Vietnam. This incident happened on September 2, 1945. Given how significant this incident was, I naturally learned a lot about it in school. Please be patient with me as my memory of what my teacher told me may not be particularly exact because it has been a while.
In other words, before the country gained its independence, Vietnam was ruled by the French colonial power. But following this Independence Day, VN was able to throw off the constraints of colonialism and go on to gain independence. I believe that this event helped to usher in a period of economic prosperity and marked a significant improvement in everyone’s life.
I suppose that I should be more interested in history and this particular event, but I’m not sure I am. I believe it would increase my respect for our country, its history, our hearts, and our ancestors.
