Responsibilities

As a Oracle DBA at NSC, you will have the opportunity to work remotely, with fixed working hours from 7AM to 4PM Vietnam time (the rest is flexible). 

We are seeking a Senior Oracle DBA with strong database tuning expertise to optimize performance, stability, and scalability of large-scale Oracle database systems. This role focuses heavily on SQL tuning, system-level tuning, and performance troubleshooting for mission-critical applications.

Main responsibilities:

• Analyze and resolve database performance bottlenecks in production environments
• Perform advanced SQL tuning:
• Execution plan analysis
• Index strategy design & optimization
• Query rewrite and optimization
• Conduct instance & system tuning:
• Memory tuning (SGA, PGA)
• I/O and storage optimization
• CPU and wait event analysis
• Use AWR, ASH, ADDM, Statspack to identify and troubleshoot performance issues
• Tune Oracle RAC environments (interconnect, cache fusion, GC waits)
• Optimize Data Guard performance (redo transport, apply lag)
• Work closely with developers to review database design, SQL code, and schema changes
• Support high-load systems (OLTP / reporting / mixed workloads)
• Proactively monitor performance trends and provide capacity planning recommendations
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for performance incidents and production issues
• Participate in performance testing, load testing, and release readiness reviews

Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with strong focus on database performance tuning
• Deep understanding of Oracle database internals:
• Optimizer behavior
• Wait events & latch contention
• Redo/undo mechanisms
• Hands-on experience with:
• SQL & PL/SQL performance tuning
• AWR / ASH / ADDM analysis
• Indexing strategies (B-tree, bitmap, partitioned indexes)
• Strong experience in:
• Oracle RAC performance tuning
• RMAN backup & recovery
• Data Guard (performance optimization & troubleshooting)
• Solid Linux/Unix skills, shell scripting for automation
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex performance issues in production

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Experience with:
• Oracle Exadata (Smart Scan, storage indexes, cell offload)
• Oracle GoldenGate performance tuning
• Large-scale data volume systems (TB–PB range)
• Oracle certifications:
• OCP / OCM (especially Performance Tuning track)
• Experience in banking, finance, insurance, telecom systems
• Knowledge of database performance in cloud environments (OCI / AWS RDS Oracle)
