Bài mẫu:

Last year, I took a memorable solo long walk around Hoan Kiem lake. Actually, I came up with this idea at the drop of a hat right after I came home from school. After taking a shower and putting on my T-shirt and jeans, I took a bus to the lake.

Although I got carsick, after reaching the lake, the fresh air gave me a spring in my steps, so I started walking energetically. Lucky for me, it was about 5 p.m which was a prompt moment to see the sunset. It was so beautiful that I took my smartphone and took some pictures. The breathtaking scenery helped me let my hair down. It took nearly 2 hours to finish this solo walk because I made multiple pit stops as food trucks and street café really caught my attention.

After that, I was utterly worn out, so I sat on a bench to enjoy an ice cream I had just bought. While I was sitting, a girl came from nowhere, sat next to me and talked to me. I started and was nervous at first, but we gradually realized we clicked. We chatted for 30 minutes then I had to say goodbye to make sure that I could catch a bus on time.

It was not until I came home that I could feel the leg pain. This was partly because I had maintained an inactive lifestyle for a long time. That night I went out like a light right after my head hit the pillow. I found it an exciting experience, but I don’t think I will do that again unless I have a friend to go with me.

Từ vựng:

  • At the drop of a hat (idiom): làm việc gì đó đột ngột, không có kế hoạch trước và không có lý do rõ ràng.
  • Give someone a spring in my step (idiom): tràn trề năng lượng

  • Come from nowhere (idiom): xuất hiện bất ngờ, đột ngột
  • Click (verb): tâm đầu ý hợp, ăn ý ngay từ giây phút đầu
  • Go out like a light (idiom):  chìm vào giấc ngủ 1 cách nhanh chóng
  • Head hit the pillow (phrase): đi ngủ

I would like to talk about a long walk that I have taken recently. So this was a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake. I do this walk quite regularly actually, usually in the late evening, and usually whenever I am feeling under pressure at work or school. That night, the fresh air and tranquil atmosphere around the lake made me feel relaxed, and it helped me to refresh my mind to get ready for a new day to come. There’s also a lot of police around the area which makes me feel quite safe, so I didn't have to be concerned about being pick-pocketed or anything like that, so I could really just concentrate on other more important things. Surrounding the lake is a long spacious pavement, where people usually go jogging and walking, and after taking a long walk I just sat there on a bench, taking in the peaceful atmosphere. Most of the time I was just gazing at the stars, trying my best to let my mind unwind and breathe in fresh air. The reason I took this walk was because I had just had a fight with my mother about my future career. While I wanted to pursue a career in music, she wanted me to become a teacher. Things just started feeling very negative, because we began to argue, so I went looking for something that would calm my mind. It was a long walk because I didn't return home until 11p.m that evening. But I was able to get things together after the walk.

Từ vựng:

  • tranquil (a) : /ˈtræŋ.kwɪl/ :yên bình

I love the tranquil atmosphere of the countryside

  • pick-pocket (n) /ˈpɪkˌpɒk.ɪt/ : móc túi

Be careful of being pickpocketed when using public transport

  • gaze at  /ɡeɪz/ : nhìn ngắm, nhìn chằm chằm vào điều gì đó

I love gazing at the night sky

  • bizarre (a)  /bɪˈzɑːr/ : kỳ lạ

It is bizarre that it is rainy during this time of the year

  • calm my mind : bình tĩnh

I usually go for a stroll in the park to calm my mind

  • get things together : sắp xếp lại những việc chưa ổn thoả

You should get things together if you want to succeed in this project

During the last summer, in 2015, I went to Greece with my parents and other family members and had a long walk on the Olympus Mountain range. The walking lasted for about three and a half hours.

We walked through the entire range and enjoyed the natural beauties of the local areas. The mountain is considered as the second highest mountain in the country and also admired by both the local and international travellers for its association with the Greek mythology. Many events have taken place on the mountain and it was the residence of 12 Gods of Greek mythology. But currently, the hiking route and the natural beauty is the key attraction for the travellers. The walking routes contained large croplands, peaks, places for collecting foods and other necessary materials etc.

We started the walking using the international hiking path at the E4 starts and the walking ended at the Enipea springs. The entire walking distance was about 1100 meters. During the walking passage, we experienced some stunning natural scenes. The walking trails were marked clearly and there were many ascents and descents across the entire route which made the walking more enjoyable. When we started the walking, the river was left to us and we crossed some beautiful bridges made with wood. We also visited the Agios Dionysios Monastery, a beautiful place. The views of the Enipea waterfalls are breathtaking. Though there were some troubles to ascent and descent on the trail, the entire walking was enjoyable to me.

I was accompanied by my family at the walk. The family members contained my parents, my elder brother and sister and my pet dog. We reached the entrance with a car and then started the journey. It was interesting for me to walk such a long distance but all the other members could not enjoy like me. As I regularly participate in my college sports, I am physically more fit than the other members. Consequently, my parents and the elder sister had to experience some troubles. They were lagging behind often and could not keep pace with me and my elder brother. Besides, they just took breaks after every ten minutes with the excuse to drink water. However, it was a nice journey for us all.

It was my long desire to go for a long walk or hiking in the mountain. I have many experiences to walk on flat lands but walking ins a mountain trail was a completely new experience for me. During the walk in meadows, I did not have to undergo any stress but in this mountain walk, in fact, I had to take some stress like the other family members. They stopped frequently, but I controlled myself from the taking regular breaks, Moreover, the ascent and descent of the geographical structure also had some impacts on my body as during the upward slopes, I had to rely on the stick on my hand and sometimes I extended my hand to my mom while my elder helped my sister. When we reached near the waterfalls, everyone seemed to be relaxed as the journey was over.

I have never walked so much before the day of official hiking as a scout in my school. It was the longest walk of my life and had a great experience. It was an expedition for me and my team of scouts. Thank you for the question, and it reminds me of my school days.

I was involved in scouting in my school days and took part in many adventurous activities. As part of the scouting, I had to be the member of the hiking team. The team explored the entire city on foot. It was really a nice experience. But I had some difficulties with walking as I had to carry a certain amount of load on my back.

I walked across the city of Beverly Hills. It is a very beautiful city and attracts people most for the good number of places. The walk was made to make the city familiar to us. Besides, there were some rules and regulations. The city also aimed to help us know about the road signs, how to walk and cross the streets and more other matters related to the street walking. Besides, the hiking was also enjoyable as it was planned to make us feel us a strange feeling. During the walk, I lost direction several times and had to be on the track. It was interesting and felt very happy.

It was a teamwork. So, I had to be with my team of scouts. The team consisted of five other members. Each of us was assigned with different responsibilities. Someone was assigned to carry the water bottle while another one was carrying biscuits and other snacks. I was walking with the city map. The route crossed almost all the streets of the city. And we had to follow the directions to reach our destination. After walking for about three and half hours, we reached the destination that was shown on the map. We discovered that we could have reached there within less of the time that we spent if we were told directly to be at the place.

It was a memorable walk for me. I have had a different experience here. I walked before but those were for short times. But this was a long walk and I walked continuously. Sweating was a constant companion to me. Finding the directions and signs on the street was extremely difficult for me. Walking with an opened map was also troublesome. Whenever I made a mistake to find out the direction, I had to experience hot words from the other mates. But when we reached the destination, they thanked me generously. In an overall consideration, it was a nice walk for me indeed.

Câu trả lời mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: Walking

1. What outdoor activities do people like?

I think a lot of people enjoy working because this activity is relaxing and not too physically demanding. Besides, people can walk anywhere, like parks, or around the streets near their home. Playing sports like badminton or football is also common.

  • physically demanding (a) /ˈfɪz.ɪ.kəl.i/  /dɪˈmɑːn.dɪŋ/: đòi hỏi nhiều sức khoẻ thể chất

Swimming is quite physically demanding

2. What are the differences between the outdoor activities children did in the past and now?

Honestly speaking, I think there is not much difference. Children, both in the past and now, enjoy playing sports like basketball, football and so forth. I guess the only difference is children nowadays are less interested in being outdoors because they have video games and the internet.

3. Is leisure time important to everyone? Why?

Of course. Everyone needs a work-life balance and leisure time is when people get to heal and refresh their minds. Without leisure time, people can become stressed and productivity at work is significantly reduced.

  • heal (v) /hiːl/ : hồi phục

Your wounds are healing quickly

  • refresh their minds : giải toả đầu óc

Traveling to the beach can refresh your mind

  • productivity (n) ˌprɒd.ʌkˈtɪv.ə.ti/ : hiệu suất

The best way to increase productivity is to work smarter

4. Do women have more leisure time than men?

No, it's the opposite. Men usually have more free time than women because after work, while men can sit back and relax, women are the ones in charge of household chores like cooking or cleaning the house. This could change if men learn to share some of the work with women.

  • household chore (n) /ˈhaʊs.həʊld/ /tʃɔːr/ : công việc nhà

My mother does all the household chores without complaining.
