Today, I’m gonna tell you about my best friend, Hien, who has instructed me on a kind of time-management skill called prioritization. To begin with, Hien and I have been friends for about a decade, so not only is she my best friend but she seems more like a family member to me.
In terms of her personality, three adjectives that could be used to describe her are ambitious, intelligent and hardworking, or we can call her a high-flyer. She always makes her parents proud of her by achieving so many scholarships from the college and businesses as a whole.
With respect to the time-management skill she once taught me, prioritization, this practice means urgent or significant tasks are done or dealt with first, so it allows me to allocate time more efficiently. Since I started practising this skill, I’ve been able to improve my labour productivity dramatically.
All things considered, she is such a real-life role model with countless qualities that I can learn from. Had it not been for her, I would never have been aware of so many useful things that did good to both my academic journeys and my daily life.

Today I’d like to talk about my father, who not only has the most profound influence on me but also has taught me many valuable lessons. The first thing that springs to mind was when I learned that “giving is receiving” from him.
About my dad, he is in his fifties but he looks much younger than his real age due to regular exercise and a balanced diet. He impresses everyone with his charming smile and I feel really lucky to take after him. He never fails to make a good first impression.
So, if I remember correctly, it was 8 years ago when I was in grade 6, I was enjoying my days off from school because Tet holiday was coming. My dad, together with his friends, organized a charity trip at Binh Duong province, with a plan to visit and support underprivileged children. I wasn’t into that at first, as the idea of going on a charity trip had never occurred to me. However, my dad asked me to follow him because he said there were many things for me to learn from so I had no choice but to agree.
Arriving at the place, I was surprised because as Tet was coming and everyone in my city was celebrating and decorating their houses, this place had almost no festive atmosphere. Going inside, I saw a group of children playing together and they were surprisingly cheerful, regardless of how run-down the place looked. My dad and his friends started giving them new clothes as well as some decorations for Tet holiday. The kids were very well-behaved and some of them even started jumping around me. At that time, somehow, I was flooded with joy and positive thoughts. I realised how lucky I was and that there are many less fortunate lives around me. The kids here had spread their positivity to me and my father had already taught me more than I had expected.
I must say, my dad has taught me many things in life and he is forever a role model for me to follow.

2. Run-down /ˌrʌnˈdaʊn/ : xuống cấp

The first quality that springs to mind is patience. Teaching is a challenging job and students sometimes are hard to deal with. Moreover, I believe that a teacher should also be a good listener. Being a teacher is not only about delivering lessons but also about being a mentor or a friend who gives useful advice to students. So, if a teacher and his or her students can build a strong connection, that teacher has succeeded in being a teacher.
I would say the younger ones. The younger they are, the easier for them to acquire new knowledge because they have more energy and willingness to learn. On the other hand, old people would definitely have a hard time memorizing things because they are distracted by other things in life and their minds are not as sound as they used to be.
Perhaps 5. At that age, children are ready both mentally and physically. At the age of 5, a normal kid would be capable of understanding, following instructions without their parents’ help as well as getting along with other people. On top of that, a 5-year-old kid should start learning from other people, besides their parents, like their teachers and friends and step out of their comfort zone.
1. Sound /saʊnd/: minh mẫn
Ví dụ: Was she of sound mind at the time of the incident?
2. Comfort zone: khu vực làm mình cảm thấy an toàn, thoải mái
Comfort /ˈkʌm.fət/ : thoải mái
3. Zone /zəʊn/ : khu vực
