Describe a piece of clothing you wear most often | Bài mẫu Speaking Part 2, 3
Describe a piece of clothing you wear most often. You should say:
And explain why you enjoy wearing it.
It would definitely be nothing other than my favorite pair of Levi’s denim jeans. I actually thrifted this gem at a local thrift store, within walking distance from my home, when I got my first paycheck about two years ago. It was quite a steal honestly, since it only cost 250K, while it must have originally retailed at nearly two million.
It’s a deep, grainy indigo pair of jeans with 5-pocket styling. However, just like any other Levi’s Jeans, what sets it apart from the jeans of other brands is the Arcuate design, which refers to the form of an arc, in the two back pockets.
I am obsessed with this piece of garment, partly because of the non-stretch fabric, which accounts for its durability. I’ve had it for two years now, and put it on practically every week, yet it still looks pretty much the same as the day I purchased it, even after many wearings and washings, with no holes or tears.
What makes me fall for it even more, would probably be its high-waist silhouette. My legs are a bit short, and my thighs are a bit big, so the fit like this would be flattering because their higher-than-usual waist naturally elongates my legs.
This Levi’s pair of jeans also tops the list when it comes to the outfit choices. I mean, it can go well with everything. I can either have a formal look with a button-down shirt tucked into the jeans and a blazer or keep it casual in a retro style by mixing it with any white T-shirt, creating a go-to ensemble whatever occasion it is. Although low-rise jeans are all the rage now with the resurgence of Y2k, I believe that mine would never go out of style.
Từ vựng:
So, today I’m going to talk about my absolute favorite clothing accessory, which is my scarf.
I picked it up for an extremely reasonable price of 60,000 VND a couple of years ago. The place I bought it from was a small handicraft shop at a really famous temple in Saigon. In that shop they made lots of different types of clothing by hand and with old fashioned sewing machines.
As for how often I wear it, I wear this scarf almost everywhere. In winter, it can help keep my neck warm, while in summer it can help protect my neck from the scorching rays of the sun when I’m driving on my motorbike to work.
This scarf is red and black with a checkered pattern and is made of 80% cotton and 20% polyester. It’s durable too because I’ve had it for two years now and it still feels soft and comfortable to wear as well. One more thing is that the red and black matches with some of my clothes, so it suits me well.
There are obviously a few reasons that I have already mentioned as to why I like it. But I guess the main two reasons are; it’s durable and has lasted a long time, and the second reason is that it’s versattle and can be worn in different seasons.
Từ vựng:
Well, I have mixed feelings when it comes to buying clothes. On the one hand, I enjoy the thrill of the hunt, and the feeling of trying on outfits. I like to experiment with different colors and patterns, and it can be satisfying to find a piece of clothing that fits me like a glove and makes me feel euphoric.
On the other hand, I’m also aware of the detrimental environmental impacts of the fast fashion industry. The constant production and consumption of cheap, disposable clothing has led to pollution all around the world.
Because of these concerns, I try to be mindful of my clothing purchases. I prioritize buying second-hand or sustainable clothing when possible, and I try to avoid buying clothing that I won’t wear frequently or that will quickly go out of style.
In Vietnam, formal clothes are typically reserved for special occasions or events where dressing up is seen as a sign of respect or tradition. The specific circumstances may vary. For example, weddings and other formal ceremonies, such as graduations or award ceremonies, typically require formal attire. Men usually wear suits or tuxedos, while women often wear formal dresses or gowns.
In addition, many workplaces also have a dress code that requires employees to dress formally, especially in industries such as finance or law. This typically includes suits, blouses, and dress shoes.
In Vietnam, traditional clothing is worn for various occasions, particularly during festivals and cultural events. For instance, during the Lunar New Year, both men and women often wear the áo dài, which is Vietnam’s traditional dress, made of silk and is beautifully embroidered with intricate designs. This traditional dress is also commonly worn by students to school on special occasions like the first day of the new academic year.
Another occasion where traditional clothing is worn is during high–profile events and formal meetings on a national level. For example, the áo dài is often worn by Vietnamese ambassadors and other dignitaries during official events to showcase Vietnamese culture.
