About The Role

Sunbytes is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to work with our client, who is a leading company that delivers solutions for the floating offshore oil and gas industry. This job is based at the client office in Ho Chi Minh City . The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

• Combine leadership in engineering with hands-on coding, spending about 60-80% of your time actively writing code while guiding a team of up to 10 developers.
• Exceptional engineers who do not prefer managerial roles are also welcome to apply, provided they clearly indicate their preference.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner on creating the product roadmap and planning releases.
• Cultivate a culture of high performance, with an emphasis on technical excellence, teamwork, and responsibility.
• Efficiently allocate and oversee development tasks within the team.
• Architect and design systems that are robust, scalable, and secure while producing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code.
• Lead development efforts, including overseeing code reviews, testing, and debugging.
• Continuously improve development processes, tools, and practices, integrating DevOps best practices throughout the workflow.
  
  

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
• Strong academic credentials in Comp Science/IT from top universities in Vietnam, or equivalent from foreign universities.
• A T-shaped developer with wide-ranging technical knowledge and strong expertise in either frontend or backend systems.
• Experience with data processing or machine learning/AI is a strong plus.
• Enjoys solving complex, high-impact technical problems and exploring creative, unconventional solutions.
• Open-minded and innovative, willing to challenge the status quo and try new approaches.
• Proven track record of developing complex enterprise applications across multiple departments or business units.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Skilled with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comfortable working with any programming language, our stack includes Python, React.js, and Azure.
• Startup experience is a nice-to-have bonus.
