Cấu trúc No matter là gì?

Cấu trúc No matter là một trong những mệnh đề trạng ngữ tiếng Anh tương phản mang ý nghĩa “dù có … đi chăng nữa … thì vẫn”.

Cấu trúc này được sử dụng với mục đích liên kết hai vế lại với nhau. Thực chất bạn có thể hiểu No matter là một dạng ngắn của cấu trúc “it does not matter”.

Cụm từ No matter trong tiếng Anh có thể dùng tương tự như một số từ để hỏi: what, when, where, which, who, how để miêu tả một tình huống không thể thay đổi dù đã cố gắng hết sức như nào đi chăng nữa. Ví dụ:

• Call me when you get there, no matter what the time is (Hãy gọi cho tôi khi bạn đến đó, bất kể khi nào).
• My girlfriend never answers my calls, no matter how many times I call (Bạn gái tôi không bao giờ trả lời cuộc gọi của tôi, bất kể tôi gọi cô ấy bao nhiêu lần).

Cách dùng cấu trúc No matter trong tiếng Anh

Cấu trúc chung No matter

No matter + who/what/which/where/when/how + S + V,…

Công thức No matter này được sử dụng trong tiếng Anh để diễn đạt ý nghĩa “dù có … đi chăng nữa … thì vẫn”. Bạn có thể tham khảo ví dụ:

• No matter what my parent tell me, I would still follow this job (Dù gia đình tôi có nói gì đi nữa thì tôi vẫn theo đuổi công việc đó).
• No matter how handsome he is, he is too arrogant with his appearance (Dù điểm trai đến đâu, anh ta cũng quá kiêu ngạo với vẻ bề ngoài của mình).

Cấu trúc no matter what

No matter what: dù có bất cứ chuyện gì đi chăng nữa. Với No matter what, người đọc có thể viết lại câu sử dụng Whatever (No matter what = Whatever)

No matter + what + S + V,…

Ví dụ:

• No matter whatthey claimed, do your own research and verify it.

=Whateverthey claimed, do your own research and verify it.

(Bất kể họ đã tuyên bố điều gì, hãy tự nghiên cứu và xác minh điều đó.)

Cấu trúc no matter who

No matter who = whoever: cho dù bất kỳ ai

No matter + who + S + V,…

Ví dụ:

• No matter whoshe decided to go with, I wish her the best.

=Whoevershe decided to go with, I wish her the best.

(Dù cô ấy quyết định đi với ai, tôi cũng cầu chúc cho cô ấy những điều tốt đẹp nhất.)

Cấu trúc no matter where

No matter where = Wherever: dù bất nơi nào đi nữa.

No matter + where + S + V,…

Ví dụ:

• No matter where he chooses to work, his new team would definitely love him.

=Whereverhe chooses to work, his new team would definitely love him.

(Bất kể anh ấy chọn làm việc ở đâu, đội ngũ mới của anh ấy chắc chắn sẽ yêu mến anh ấy.)

Cấu trúc no matter how

No matter how: dù có thế nào đi chăng nữa. Với No matter how, người đọc có thể viết lại câu sử dụng However ( No matter what = However )

No matter how + adj/adv + S + V,…

Ví dụ:

• No matter how old he gets, he’s still such a gentleman to her

=However old he gets, he’s still such a gentleman to her

(Dù bao nhiêu tuổi, ông ấy vẫn là một quý ông như thế đối với bà ấy)

Lưu ý khi sử dụng cấu trúc No matter

• Ngoài vị trí đứng đầu câu, các cấu trúc No matter what và No matter where cũng có thể đặt ở vị trí cuối câu tiếng Anh mà không cần mệnh đề đi theo sau. Ví dụ: 
  • • I will always support my sister, no matter what. (Tôi sẽ luôn ủng hộ chị gái tôi dù có chuyện gì đi chăng nữa.)
    • I will go to this concert with you, no matter where. (Tôi sẽ đi đến buổi hòa nhạc đó cùng bạn dù bất kỳ đâu đi chăng nữa).
• Nhiều bạn thường xuyên nhầm cấu trúc No matter và Not matter, vậy nên bạn lưu ý rằng, đây là cấu trúc No matter nhé.
• Nếu như câu tiếng Anh đó chỉ có một vế, thay vì sử dụng cấu trúc no matter what/where/ which/ who/ how, bạn cần sử dụng cấu trúc it doesn’t matter trước what/where/…
