In this day and age, it is believed that the benefits that reading for pleasure brings about far outweigh that of watching TV. As far as I am concerned, it is completely true that reading enjoyment can improve imagination and language skills.
Firstly, it is worth considering that reading engages creativity. Research has shown that browsing through texts is an act of play - one that allows us to experience different worlds in our imagination. For example, while screens show off every detail, books require our brain to constantly visualise images of figures and interpret the flow of the story. In other words, reading can be seen as a creative and interactive process comparing to the passive act of eyeing on the television.
Secondly, reading for pleasure can be referred to as an indepedent and recreational activity that provides a strong foundation for critical, digital and information literacy. Specifically, reading materials contain advanced vocabulary and complicated grammatical structures which can contribute greatly to expanding students' breadth of knowledge. Additionally, experts claim that joyful reading is an important prerequisite to becoming an effective learner. Particularly, independent reading can promote reading attainment and writing ability. It also encourages text comprehension and grammar understanding. In contrast, conversations in shows or programmes often lack depth and informal; thus, watching TV does not effectively empower us with the development of cognitive functions.
To summarise, reading is meant to be a purposeful and exciting experience whose benefits are extensive and far-reaching. Turning pages is closely associated with an increase in vocabulary range and grammatical structures, as well an improvement in the creative ability. To my mind, reading is not only a leisure activity but also a social pactice as well.

We are living in a digital age. The debate between reading and watching TV in our free time seems to never end. In my opinion, people can learn in both ways, but when it comes to enhancing imagination and boosting language ability, reading for pleasure is undoubtedly the better option.
Firstly, there are no pictures in books or lectures. It prompts the reader to think or imagine what the characters look like and how they express their emotions.Furthermore, the reader can create their own scene in their mind. That is how books help people develop their imagination . In contrast, when we watch TV, although we still receive information, we have no chance to imagine. For example, when reading 'Harry Potter,' we tend to anticipate what the magic looks like. But when there is a movie adaptation, we are simply shown.
Secondly, the sentences written in the book are formal, so people can learn vocabulary and structure in a proper way. However, when the host and guests speak on a television show, their casual conversation leads to the use of simpler words and sentences.A study from a university in California shows that children exposed to more books exhibit better grammatical accuracy than those who aren't
In conclusion, both reading books and viewing TV are beneficial, and they both have advantages. But when it comes to enhancing language skills and imagination, we have to admit that books still dominate.

There are skills that children can develop while reading physical books. Research has shown that reading text promotes deeper thinking compared to watching animations or movies. I completely agree with this, and I will discuss why this is the case and what benefits it has.
Firstly, as you are reading this, it is important that you understand its meaning. This means that there is an input to your brain. After that, you need to convert a single word into a sentence in order to understand its meaning. This process can truly enhance language abilities and expand one's vocabulary. Although it may accumulate slowly, this ability can actually improve a person's quality. For example, a study in the United States showed that individuals who have an appreciation for literature tend to be more successful compared to those who lack such interest.
Secondly, words can evoke various imaginings. We could say that when dealing with these essays, one is attempting to envision what occurs within the text of the book. Plus, it definitely enhances one's imagination. An experiment has shown that reading actually activates the brain more than watching a movie. Subsequently, the actions did lead to further outcomes. For example, some primary schools require students to read more books during their school life. This not only builds their research environment but also makes their repository more luxurious.
All in all, I believe that individuals who read possess a more advanced imagination and improved language abilities compared to those who only watch. Also, I believe that children should be given more chances to read rather than spending time on their mobile devices.

It is thought by some people that reading has been able to enhance creativity and language skills for their readers more than watching television. In this essay, this aspect will be discussed before reaching my opinion.
On the one hand, it is true that reading provides several benefits to their readers. Firstly, It can develop the ability of imagination. For example, individuals who read Harry Potter need to imagine spells or situations that are described in the form of words. Hence, if they want to enjoy reading their books, they need to use their creativity more than people who do not read. Secondly, words and sentences in books are well-arranged. To illustrate, novel writers always think carefully about the structure of sentences before they write, meaning, readers can use it to learn and improve their language proficiency effectively. Furthermore, The novels contain a wide array of vocabulary which can be used in real-life conversations.
On the other hand, watching on devices such as televisions offers advantages to their users. To begin with, one part of our brain that relates to art and creativity is sharply developed whilst individuals are watching TV. People can see movements, actions, colours, etc, for example, when protagonists in Harry Potter wield their spells or magics. Therefore, watchers are able to absorb that art and further their imagination skills during they are watching movies. Additionally, readers of novels sometimes find it hard to comprehend due to the languages that writers use. Some of them are too formal to use in writing more than speaking, besides, some words cannot be used on a daily basis.
All in all, there are some groups of people who lean towards reading because they believe it is better to develop skills than watching. In my opinion, I strongly disagree with this idea, both of them can enhance individuals' skills but it depends on how they are going to utilise it in what ways.

It is true that reading can contribute to imagining and learning languages. This essay will explain why I totally agree that reading is better than watching TV
Admittedly, there is good reason to say that reading can develop imagination. To begin with, books or articles usually do not have pictures. A good example is historical books. It was really hard for people to take pictures at that time. Therefore, people need to put more resources into imagining if they want to find out about that historical period. Moreover, when reading information, people also need to think harder than looking at the screen. Watching TV leave people unable to imagine. It has transition, and movement and can illustrate everything thus people do not need to use their imagination.
There is also a compelling reason to say that language skills can be improved through reading. First and foremost, there are a significant number of languages that are rare. Due to its scarcity, information about it is also minimal. To illustrate, if one language disappears, people could just find it through its nation's books. At that time, people did not have any technology devices so they just could take notes to save their languages. That is the reason why people will struggle to find any videos of their nation and languages because it happened a thousand years ago
In conclusion, reading not only helps improve imagination but also language skills. It has a lot of benefits that watching TV does not such as wide and rare information.
