Join a forward-looking R&D team developing next-generation automation solutions for CNC machine tending. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design, iterate, and validate high-performance mechanical subassemblies with a focus on manufacturability, cost optimization, and cross-disciplinary integration. You'll work closely with electrical, robotics, and software teams to bring innovative automation solutions from concept to product deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design new mechanical subassemblies and structural features for automation robot products and systems.
• Redesign existing modules to improve performance, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost through DFM/DFA principles.
• Prepare detailed 2D part drawings, 3D CAD and assembly drawings for release.
• Plan and execute design validation and proof-of-concept tests, including static, thermal, and dynamic or motion performance evaluations.
• Collaborate closely with controls, electrical and software teams to ensure system-level integration and functional alignment.
• Manage and maintain product BOMs and relevant engineering documentation.
• Release Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for design updates and coordinate implementation with manufacturing, purchasing and customer service.
• Conduct prototype development, functional testing and iterative design changes.
• Work with manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition of designs from prototype to regular production.
• Support pre-sales activities by preparing technical documentation and addressing technical requirements.
• Provide field support for product implementation, troubleshooting, and user training as required.• Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing complex mechanical systems, including ownership of BOM and engineering documentation.
• Solid experience in mechanical design of precision motion assemblies, such as ball screw drives, gear mechanisms, cantilever arms, rotary tables, feeders, pneumatic tooling and pick-and-place mechanisms.
• Proficiency in GD&T for fabrication control and production-ready drawings.
• Skilled in designing machined parts and structural sheet metal components.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, including simulations, FEA analysis, and engineering calculations.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, precision mechanical alignment, and fine-tuning of components for performance optimization.
• Familiarity with CNC machine tools or 6-axis robotic applications is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
