As if / As though là gì? | Định nghĩa, cấu trúc, cách dùng và bài tập vận dụng
Cấu trúc As if As though có nghĩa là: Cứ như là…/ Như thể là… Cấu trúc này được dùng để diễn tả tình trạng một sự vật, sự việc như thế nào, hoặc mang nghĩa mỉa mai một sự việc, hành động, sự vật nào đó.
Cấu trúc này vừa diễn tả tình huống có thật và cũng vừa có thể diễn tả tình huống không có thật.
Ví dụ:
→ Mang nghĩa mô tả một sự vật, sự việc.
→ Mang nghĩa mỉa mai 1 sự vật, sự việc.
Cấu trúc As if As though thường thấy đi với động từ chỉ giác quan như: sound, look, taste, smell, feel.
Cấu trúc:
S + V + as if / as though + S + V
Chú ý: Động từ trong mệnh đề AS if As though được chia theo thì của động từ trong mệnh đề chính.
Ví dụ:
Trong trường hợp này, cấu trúc As if As though mô tả những tình huống có thật (là các sự việc, sự vật rất rõ ràng). Việc dùng cấu trúc As if As though có tác dụng diễn tả, so sánh hiện tượng, sự vật, sự việc.
S + Vs/es + as if / as though + S + Vs/es…
Ví dụ:
S + V-ed + as if / as though + S + V-ed…
Ví dụ:
Cấu trúc As if As though cũng được dùng để diễn tả tình huống không có thật, có thể diễn tả những tình huống giả định, không có xảy ra trong hiện tại.
Cấu trúc:
S + Vs/es + as if / as though + S + V-ed
Chú ý: Sau As if As though, sử dụng động từ “to be” là “were” với bất kỳ chủ ngữ nào.
Ví dụ.:
→ Trời bây giờ không phải mùa đông.
→ Thực tế Anna không giàu.
→ Thực tế Linda không biết gì nhiều.
Cấu trúc As if As though khi được sử dụng để mô tả lại tình huống không có thật, nghĩa là nó diễn tả một tình huống giả định, không xảy ra trong quá khứ.
Cấu trúc:
S + V-ed + as if / as though + S + V-p2
Ví dụ.:
→ Thực tế Jenny không thấy ma.
→ Thực tế Peter không đạt giải nào cả.
Ngoài những cách dùng As if As though nêu trên, có một số trường hợp cấu trúc As if As though không theo nguyên tắc đó là: sử dụng to + V hoặc cụm giới từ đi theo sau.
Cấu trúc:
S + Vs/es/ed + as if / as though + to V / cụm giới từ
Ví dụ:
Mệnh đề đằng sau cấu trúc As if As though không hẳn luôn theo các quy tắc trên. Trong một số trường hợp, nếu điều kiện ở trong câu là có thật hoặc theo người nói điều đó là sự thật thì các công thức As if As though trên không được áp dụng. Động từ tại mệnh đề sau của cấu trúc As if As though diễn biến bình thường theo mối quan hệ cùng với mệnh đề chính.
