Find out là gì?

Trong tiếng anh động từ “find’’ có nghĩa là tìm kiếm, tìm ra, bắt được khi kết hợp với trạng từ “out’’ để tạo ra cụm find out với nghĩa cũng vô cùng đa dạng. Find Out có nghĩa là khám phá ra, tìm ra nghĩa này thì không có gì khác so với động từ “find” bên cạnh đó còn có thêm một số nghĩa là phát minh ra và giải quyết một số vấn đề. Đây là nghĩa thường xuyên được sử dụng của Find out.

Cách phát âm /faɪnd aʊt/.

Ví dụ:

• Anna just needs to find out the truth. (Anna cần phải tìm ra sự thật.)
• Jenny is an inventor who always tries to find out how to make lives more convenient. (Jenny là một nhà phát minh, người luôn cố gắng tìm ra cách làm cho cuộc sống tiện lợi hơn.)
• Peter needs to find out who the boy in this picture is. (Peter cần tìm ra cậu bé trong bức tranh này là ai.)

Find something out / Find out something

Nếu something là một danh từ thì something có thể đứng giữa hoặc sau Find out.

Ví dụ:

• Jenny finds that book out. (Jenny tìm ra được cuốn sách.)
• Kathy went to the library to find out information about her major. (Kathy đã đến thư viện để tìm hiểu thông tin về chuyên ngành của cô ấy.) 

Nếu something là một đại từ thì something phải đứng giữa find và out. Ví dụ: 

• John needs to find it out. (John phải tìm ra nó.)

2. Cấu trúc 2

Find out + (that) + mệnh đề

Ví dụ: 

• Harry found out that Anna lied to him many times. (Harry phát hiện ra Anna đã lừa dối anh nhiều lần).
• Sara found out what happened to her husband. (Sara đã tìm ra những gì đã xảy đến với chồng mình.)

Chú ý: Khi dùng Find someone out, cấu trúc Find out này sẽ mang một nét nghĩa đặc biệt hơn đó là “phát hiện ra sự thật xấu xa/đáng kinh ngạc về người đó” – thường là không trung thực hoặc lừa lọc.

Ví dụ:

• Anna wondered for a while if Peter would found her out. (Anna tự hỏi một lúc liệu Peter có phát hiện ra cô ta không.)
• John found Sara out when she attempted to steal his watch. (John phát hiện ra Sara khi cô ấy định ăn trộm đồng hồ của anh.)
• Candy found out that her brother is going to sell her house. (Candy phát hiện ra rằng anh trai cô ta sẽ bán ngôi nhà của cô ấy.)

Cách dùng cấu trúc Find out

1. Dùng để diễn tả việc tìm ra, khám phá ra

Chúng ta sử dụng cấu trúc Find out để diễn tả việc tìm ra, khám phá ra điều gì.

Ví dụ:

• Kathy found out that her father was a model when he was young. (Kathy đã phát hiện ra rằng bố cô ấy là một người mẫu khi ông ta còn trẻ.)
• Daisy went to the library to find out information about the life and work of Matin. (Daisy đã đến thư viện để tìm một số thông tin về cuộc đời và sự nghiệp của Martin.)
• Next month, Jenny is gonna find out some part-time jobs. (Tháng tới, Jenny sẽ tìm một vài công việc làm thêm.)

2. Dùng để diễn tả việc phát minh, nghiên cứu

Ngoài ra, cấu trúc Find out cũng được sử dụng để mô tả việc phát minh ra hay nghiên cứu về cái gì.

Ví dụ:

• Matin just fought out an invention. (Matin mới phát minh ra một phát minh mới.)
• Harry are finding out the history of Korea. (Harry đang nghiên cứu về lịch sử nước Hàn Quốc.)

Giống nhau	Cả bốn cấu trúc Find Out, Figure Out, Find và Point Out đều mang nghĩ chung là tìm ra, chỉ ra, khám phá ra điều gì đó.
Khác nhau	Find out là tìm ra cái gì/ ai đó/ điều gì mà người sử dụng chưa từng biết trước đó, thông qua việc nghiên cứu và điều tra lần đầu được biết tới.	Figure out là tìm kiếm sự thật về điều gì đó nhưng thông qua việc sử dụng lý trí và lập luận.	Point out nghĩa là chỉ ra, vạch ra, tìm được điều gì đó thông qua một dẫn chứng nào đó hoặc đơn giản chỉ vì người nói nghĩ là nó quan trọng.	Find có nghĩa là tìm kiếm/ tìm thấy/ nhận thấy.  Trên thực tế, find thường dùng khi muốn định vị hoặc tìm kiếm các đối tượng hữu hình(người, vật…), trong khi find out có nghĩa là phát hiện về thông tin, kiến thức.
Ví dụ	Jenny are finding out the culture of Japan. (Jenny đang nghiên cứu, tìm hiểu về văn hóa của đất nước Nhật Bản). Martin needs find out the one who talked behind his back. (Martin cần tìm ra kẻ đã nói xấu sau lưng anh ấy.)	John’s sister can figure out a puzzle very quickly. (Em gái của John có thể giải trò xếp hình rất nhanh.) Harry is trying to figure out a way to stop this work. (Harry đang cố gắng tìm ra cách để ngăn chặn việc này.)	Sara pointed out some spelling errors in this report. (Sara đã chỉ ra một số lỗi chính tả trong bài báo cáo này.) Daisy pointed out the dangers of driving alone. (Daisy đã chỉ ra những nguy hiểm khi lái xe một mình.)	Peter’ll find the camera in this drawer. (Peter sẽ tìm thấy máy ảnh trong ngăn kéo này.) Kathy find this book interesting. (Kathy thấy cuốn sách này thú vị.)
