Drop in là gì

“ Drop in” là một cụm động từ của “ drop”.

Theo phiên âm chuẩn IPA, nó được phát âm là  /drɑp ɪn/.

Với phiên âm quốc tế trên , các bạn có thể nhìn và luyện tập đọc theo để có phát âm chuẩn nhất.

“Drop in” dưới dạng cụm động từ, nó có nghĩa là đến thăm, ghé thăm đặc biệt mà không nhận được lời mời trong một thời gian cụ thể. Nó có thể hiểu là bạn đang đi chơi rồi chợt đi qua ngôi nhà của một người bạn đã rất lâu rồi bạn không đến chơi, vậy là bạn ghé vào thăm mà không cần có hẹn hay được mời đến sẵn trước đó. 

Ví dụ: 

--  Drop in whenever you're in the neighborhood.

Ghé vào bất cứ khi nào bạn ở trong khu phố.

-- By chance, I passed by Lan's house and I dropped in to visit her.

Thật tình cờ, tôi đã đi qua nhà của Lan và tôi đã ghé vào thăm cô ấy.

--  I was in the area so I dropped in at the office to see him.

Tôi đã ở vùng đó vì thế tôi đã đến cơ quan để thăm anh ấy.

“ Drop in” ở dạng tính từ nó, nó được sử dụng để mô tả một địa điểm mà mọi người có thể đến, thường là để nhận trợ giúp hoặc lời khuyên, bất cứ lúc nào mà không cần hẹn trước (= ngày và giờ đã thỏa thuận)

Ví dụ:

--  a drop-in centre for the homeless

một trung tâm thả trẻ cho người vô gia cư

--  a drop-in clinic/shelter

một trạm y tế / nơi trú ẩn 

“ DROP IN” VÀ 1 SỐ CỤM TỪ TƯƠNG ĐƯƠNG

Ở dạng cụm động từ, với nghĩa đến thăm, ghé thăm đặc biệt mà không nhận được lời mời trong một thời gian cụ thể thì cũng có một cụm từ khác mang ý nghĩa tương tự đó là: “ Drop by”.

“ Drop by” mang ý nghĩa là tạt vào thăm, nhân tiện vào thăm.

Ví dụ:

She dropped by on his way home from work.

Cô ấy đã nhân tiện ghé thăm trên đường về nhà từ nơi làm việc.

Nhìn chung hai cụm từ này mang nghĩa tương đồng như nhau. Đều mang nghĩa là ghé thăm. Chúng cũng có thể coi là từ đồng nghĩa với nhau trong tiếng Anh.

Ngoài ra còn có 1 từ đồng nghĩa nữa với “ Drop in” đó chính là “ Come by”.

1. Drop by

Drop by có nghĩa là pay a brief visit (ghé ngang qua)

Ví dụ: 

• We will drop by soon next weekend
• She will drop me by to visit her parents after visiting a friend

2. Drop off

Drop off có 3 ý nghĩa cụ thể chúng ta có thể tham khảo dưới đây: 

3. Drop in

Drop in có nghĩa là visit without having made arrangements (ghé thăm không hẹn trước). Ví dụ: 

• Be prepared that we will drop in. 

• My aunt suddenly drop in without telling us a word

4. Drop over

Drop over có nghĩa là visit for a short time (ghé thăm trong thời gian ngắn). Ví dụ: 

• We will drop over at 1pm this afternoon

• My friend drop over my house for a short time to have a party in the evening

5. Drop out

Phrasal Verb với Drop out có nghĩa là quit a course (bỏ học, bỏ đăng ký). 

Ví dụ: 

• We dropped out ethics class because we have an important test tomorrow

• Don’t drop out because you’ll regret it later
