Cấu trúc This is the first time là gì?
1. First là gì?
- Số đếm: First ở trong số thứ tự được hiểu rằng là đầu tiền, thứ nhất. Ví dụ:
- Anna’s parents room on the first floor in her house. (Phòng của bố mẹ Hoa là ở tầng đầu tiên của nhà cô ấy.)
- Danh từ: Danh từ First sẽ được hiểu là “người đầu tiên”. Ví dụ:
- Jenny is the one of the first to receive a gift from Anna. (Jenny là một trong những người đầu tiên nhận được quà từ Anna.)
- Trạng từ: Trạng từ First cũng mang nghĩa là đầu tiên. Ví dụ:
- John is the man who came first in the race. (John là người đàn ông đã đến đầu tiên ở cuộc đua.)
2. Time là gì?
- Danh từ: Danh từ Time mang ý nghĩa là thời gian, và hầu như trong các trường hợp Time đều xuất hiện với vai trò là danh từ và nghĩa chỉ thời gian. Ví dụ:
- John washes his face three times a day. (John rửa mặt ba lần một ngày.)
- Động từ: Vẫn mang ý nghĩa chỉ thời gian, nhưng cũng có khi động từ Time nghĩa là sắp xếp, lập kế hoạch công việc hay đo lường quãng thời gian thực hiện một hành động nào đó. Ví dụ:
- Jenny was timed and given certificates. (Jenny đã được hẹn giờ và cấp chứng chỉ).
- Peter’s getting better at working, I timed him and the figure keeps getting smaller. (Peter càng ngày càng làm tốt, tôi đo lường thời gian và thấy số lượng đầu việc giảm dần đều.)
3. Cấu trúc This is the first time là gì?
Cấu trúc This is the first time mang nghĩa “đây là lần đầu tiên”. Cụm từ cố định này nhằm diễn đạt một mệnh đề nào đó phía sau được thực hiện lần đầu tiên. Ví dụ:
- This is the first time Jenny has heard such that. (Đây là lần đầu tiên Jenny nghe thấy điều đó.)
- It is the first time Anna encounters him. (Đây là lần đầu tiên Anna gặp mặt anh ấy.)
- Lưu ý: Đôi khi, trong tiếng Anh người ta sử dụng cấu trúc It is the first time thay cho cấu trúc This is the first time.
Cấu trúc This is the first time và các cấu trúc tương đương
1. Cấu trúc This is the first time
Cấu trúc This is the first time theo sau bởi thì hiện tại hoàn thành. Ta có công thức đầy đủ của cấu trúc This is the first time như sau:
This is the first time (+ that) + S + have/ has + V-ed/V3
= It is the first time (+ that) + S + have/has + V-ed/V3
Ví dụ:
- This is the first time Jenny has visited her hometown. (Đây là lần đầu tiên Jenny về thăm quê hương của cô ấy.)
- This is the first time John has studied English. (Đây là lần đầu tiên John học tiếng Anh.)
2. Các cấu trúc tương đương
Cấu trúc sau đây có nghĩa tương đương với cấu trúc This is the first time, cũng được dùng với thì hiện tại hoàn thành. Cấu trúc này giúp bạn trong các bài tập cấu trúc viết lại câu This is the first time.
S + have/has + never/not + V-ed/V3 + before
Cấu trúc này có nghĩa là “một người nào đó chưa từng làm việc gì trước kia.” Trong đó, “have/has not” có thể viết rút gọn ở dạng là “haven’t”/ “hasn’t”.
Ví dụ:
- Jenny has never visited her hometown before. (Jenny chưa bao giờ về thăm quê hương của cô ấy trước kia.)
- John has not/hasn’t studied English before. (John tôi chưa bao giờ học tiếng Anh trước kia.)
Cách dùng cấu trúc This is the first time
Khi muốn diễn đạt đúng ngữ pháp tiếng Anh “đây là lần đầu tiên làm gì đó” thì chúng ta sử dụng cấu trúc This is the first time.
Theo sau cấu trúc This is the first time sẽ là một mệnh đề phải được chia ở thì hiện tại hoàn thành để diễn tả rằng việc chủ thể đang làm là lần đầu tiên, chưa từng thực hiện trước đây. Ví dụ:
- This is the first time Anna has written to her mother. (Đây là lần đầu Anna viết thư cho mẹ của cô ấy.)
- This is the first time Jenny read a horror story. (Lần đầu tiên Jenny đọc một câu chuyện kinh dị.)
