Responsibilities

About the Chief Accountant role

As a Chief Accountant, you'll lead our accounting operations and drive financial excellence across our growing SaaS organization. This strategic role combines traditional accounting leadership with specialized expertise in SaaS revenue recognition, treasury management, and government relations. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented financial professional with deep understanding of subscription-based business models and regulatory compliance.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Accounting Leadership & Operations

• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls and accounting procedures
  
  

Lead month-end and year-end closing processes

• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards
  
  

SaaS Revenue Management

• Manage revenue scenarios including multi-element arrangements, contracts, and billings
• Oversee billing operations and subscription lifecycle management
• Develop revenue forecasting models and analytics for recurring revenue streams
• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams on contract terms and revenue implications
  
  

Treasury Management

• Manage cash flow planning, forecasting, and optimization
• Oversee banking relationships and treasury operations
• Implement and maintain cash management policies and procedures
• Monitor and manage foreign exchange risk for international operations
• Coordinate financing activities and investor relations support
• Ensure optimal working capital management
  
  

Government Relations & Compliance

• Serve as primary liaison with tax authorities and regulatory bodies
• Manage all tax compliance including income tax, sales tax, and international tax obligations
• Handle government audits, inquiries, and correspondence
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations
• Stay current on changing tax laws and regulations affecting SaaS businesse
  
  

Strategic Support

• Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes
• Support M&A activities and due diligence processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process improvements and system implementations
  
  

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Chief Accountant certification required
  
  

Experience

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role
• Experience with treasury management and cash flow optimization
• Proven track record in tax compliance and government relations
• Big 4 accounting firm experience a plus
  
  

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of VAS/IFRS accounting principles
• Proficiency in Accounting systems (Misa, Odoo, etc.)
• Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
• Experience with SaaS-specific tools (billing platforms, subscription management systems)
• Knowledge of tax software and compliance tools
