DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all guest activities specifically on water sports activity

Ensure a high level of service and safety to guests using the beach club and its facilities

Report direct to General Manager/Resort Manager

DUTIES

Financial

  • Assist to establish the Department Annual Operating Budget in advance for approval by the Manager and Financial Controller
  • Ensure that the Departmental Operating Budget is strictly adhere to and that all costs are strictly controlled

Administration

  • Attend meetings and briefing with other Department Heads as determined by the Manager. Ensure that all department reports and correspondence are completed punctually and accurately.
  • Review existing and initiate new departmental policies as required
  • Submit monthly report to the Manager detailing department activities for the past month and planned activities in the ensuing month

Employee Handling

  • Ensure all employees report for work punctually wearing the correct uniform and name tag at all times
  • Assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and development
  • Ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the resort’s Staff Handbook
  • Interview and subsequent selection of potential employees in liaison with the Personnel Department
  • Conduct employee evaluation and to review their general performance, discuss existing performance and areas of improvement
  • Conduct Departmental Orientation Program for new employees to ensure they understand the policies and operation of the resort
  • Ensure that all staff provided a courteous and professional service at all times
  • Counsel staff members for any breaches of conduct and observe policies when issuing formal disciplinary notice

Operational

  • Constantly review and appraise the procedures within the Recreation and Activities Department to ensure quality of service and product at all times
  • Monitor and motivate staff skills within the department and plan training and safety programs to rectify any services deficiencies
  • Conduct regular briefings with the department staff ensuring good communications at all times
  • Ensure that overtime within the department is minimized and authorized
  • Ensure that all areas within the department are equipped with correct staffing levels in accordance with expected business demand
  • In conjunction with Front Office and Reservations Manager, GM, RM, effectively manage the Recreation and Activities sales revenue to maximize capture rates and average guest spend
  • Liaise with Sales Department to advise all affiliated reservations offices of potential Recreation and Activities calendar of events, special promotions and other special offers for the next 12 months
  • Ensure all aspects of communications are operated to standard and recorded per policies
  • Ensure Recreation and Activities Team Work is accurate and attains Amanoi Standards in all aspects of guest service needs
  • Liaise with GM and RM and executive Chef to ensure Amanoi presentation standards of cuisine, beverage, for all tours and excursions
  • Ensure Micros and Materials Control setup and operation standards are in line with Amanoi Standards and are approved by the Financial Controller
  • Ensure Amanoi quality of service in all areas
  • Check cleanliness and maintenance of outlets and operational equipment
  • Always be available to handle guest requests and apply the role of the ‘host’
  • Other duties as directed by the Resort Manager, and General Manager
  • Monitor the staff skills within the department and plan training programmers to rectify any service
  • Ensure that all areas within the department are rostered with correct staffing level in accordance with expected business demand
  • Giving accurate responses to potentials clients, guests, travel agents, and staff enquiries regarding Recreation and Activities.
  • Ensure the quality of service across all areas
  • Handle daily correspondence by fax or e-mail and response them within 24 hours and ensure they get appropriate answers, in order the clients get accurate information or answer as soon as possible

  • Proven working experience as Recreation Manager/Director, preferably in a luxury setting
  • Strong organizational and people management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in English, multilingualism will be considered an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours
