Job Description

• Lead and has direct line responsibility for local logistics in meeting objectives for safety & environmental responsibility; customer focus; operations efficiency and effectiveness; and 3rd party contractor management.
• Develops, manages and motivates the local logistics team. Challenge the current business methodology/procedures through the application of continuous improvement and best practice techniques/knowledge.
• Management of warehouses and transportation fleet (own and 3rd party) and other 3rd party logistics service providers, including capacity planning, capability development, HSE, inventory accuracy, effective utilization of warehouse/transportation fleet, performance stewardship, working on continuous improvement program.
• Responsible for implementing HSE standard in local logistics organization. Promoting the cause of warehouse and road transport HSE including planning and implementing the requirements.
• Ensure all Distribution Incidents/Non-conformances are appropriately reported and reviewed.
• Provide logistics advice/assistance to Customer Service in their day-to-day management of the logistics service providers, including regular audits and performance review.
• Streamlining/re-design/build the logistics network according to business needs to promote innovation; optimize service level; appropriate response time; and cost efficiency.
• Take the lead in reviewing functional financial and operations performance. Addressing issues and introduce remedial action.
• Owner to lead 3rd party logistics service providers (warehouse and transportation) contracts sourcing, tendering, and negotiation in order to secure cost effective operating model.
• Initiate regular performance review meeting with 3rd party logistics service providers. Addressing issues and coach the contractors towards operations excellence target.
• Establish and maintain an audit programs to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Providing day to day support (both proactive and reactive) to line managers on any of the issues already referred to, as well as response to immediate/unusual situations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related fields
• Proven experience in either logistics or chemical industry, customer service (minimum 2-3 years in a logistics related role in addition to 3-5 years in supply chain roles with at least 2-3 years in a leadership capacity)
• Excellent know-how of the logistics market, customer service skill (incl. Transport, Forwarding, Warehousing)
• This position would generally require a logistics or supply chain related graduate qualification together with a sound working knowledge in supply chain, preferably with experience in logistics distribution of bulk and packed products, exposure to sales function and with a strong drive to satisfy customer needs
• Sounds knowledge in international transportation and global logistics. Recognizing early legislative development and understanding of HSE issues facing the transport of dangerous goods.
• Proven track record in the logistics area covering all modes of transport, warehousing and HSE
• IT systems, experienced in SAP, MRP, etc.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
• Knowledge of accounting and reporting systems
• Knowledge of supply chain operations: basic understanding on S&OP, demand planning, MRP, customer service, distribution,
• Import/export and trade compliance knowledge
• SAP system knowledge
• Good working knowledge of the country business environment that may affect demand and supply of products.
• Basic knowledge of agronomy and plant science
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
