The staff is responsible for managing all aspects of product introductions (new or modified) at Rheem to achieve project deliverables e.g. cost, time, safety, quality and environmental objectives.
Specific responsibilities are as follows:
• Establish local Project Teams and conduct project meetings
• Lead the project teams, assign tasks to team members and drive team members to complete assigned tasks
• Monitor processes to improve plant efficiency and improved product quality
o Identify, provide feasibility studies and implement design improvements to suit manufacturing processes, or for the introduction of new plant, equipment and tooling.
o Develop new and existing manufacturing processes
o Liaise with the Service personnel in relation to field problems, and reviewing the product/process with the aim of eliminating the manufacturing defects/problems.
o Participate in Failure Mode Effects Analysis, FMEA
o Participate in Design for Manufacture Effects Analysis, DFMEA
o Define and document Process Flow Charts, and Factory Layouts
o Prepare tooling & equipment specifications and obtain quotations
o Purchase, install and commission new tooling and equipment
o Conduct production trials and pilot runs
o Provide manufacturing metrics, "Bill of Materials" for product manufacture.
o Purchase of raw materials and components
o Provide the necessary plant standard operating procedures and work instructions
o Train personnel in the correct assembly/operating procedures on existing/new equipment.
o Provide the necessary documentation for new tooling and equipment, including operating and setting instructions, drawings and maintenance programs
o Ensure all material, component and product approvals are obtained
o Conduct SHE Risk Assessments on production machinery and processes. Develop and implement hazard control measures.
o Maintain the Quality System ISO 9001 and report to management on necessary improvements.
o To ensure that safe working and handling practices are followed and provide input into ways of improving OH&S of all personnel.
• Prepare and issue project team minutes and Action Plans
• Communicate project status and critical actions within the Rheem operation
• Liase with all departments associated with the planning, implementation and introduction of new products and/or production techniques.
• Prepare Capital Requisitions
• Manage project expenditure and maintain accurate expenditure records
• Maintain an accurate, current operations timeline
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation

• Experience in Mechanical from developing and implementing programs with identifiable results using some of the following:
o "kaizen" continuous improvement
o "lean" manufacturing / PLC system
o "just in time"
o value stream analysis
o supply chain management
o Integrated customer and internal problem solving teams
o New machinery
o Press Shop Tooling
o Optimizing bottlenecks
o Operators participation in new designs
• Over 05 years experience with a Manufacturing or Engineering Qualification
• Experience in manufacturing engineering will be considered an advantage.
• Experience in CAD design an advantage (2D &/ 3D)
• Sound people management, team facilitation, conflict resolution and communication skills
• Minimum 2 years experience with and understanding of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• An interest in developing & implementing organization development and culture change programs.
• A strong ability to relate to all levels from shop floor to senior management.
• Trained and experienced in using statistical measures to reduce process variations within a manufacturing environment.
• An ability to manage and complete complex projects.
• An ability to work on multiple projects within tight timeframes.
• An ability to work and achieve results within a team environment.
• Strong planning, organizing and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to communicate, speak and write English.
• Well developed computer skills (specifically Microsoft Office)
• A strong commitment to OHS and environmental compliance in the workplace.
