Position Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented AI Engineer to join our AI Document Reader team. You will work on maintaining and enhancing our production-grade AI systems that extract and interpret information from unstructured documents such as PDFs, scanned images, and forms.

Our platform leverages a combination of custom AI models, external LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI), and Azure Document Intelligence (AzureDI), all deployed within a scalable microservices architecture. This role offers hands-on experience with real-world AI systems, cloud services, and continuous learning in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Performance Objectives

• Maintain and monitor AI microservices for document parsing, OCR, and semantic extraction
• Integrate and optimize custom models and external APIs (OpenAI, AzureDI) for document understanding tasks
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability of AI services
• Assist in updating models, refining prompts, and deploying new features with minimal downtime
• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to ensure system scalability and reliability
• Support logging, alerting, and performance tracking across AI components
• Contribute to documentation, testing, and internal best practices
• Stay updated on emerging trends in document AI, LLMs, and cloud-based AI services

Skills and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (especially Azure) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker)
• Basic knowledge of NLP, OCR, and LLMs through coursework or projects
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills

Plus:

• Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
• Knowledge of FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks for service deployment
• Experience working with OpenAI APIs or Azure Document Intelligence
• Academic or personal projects involving document AI or production ML systems
• Interest in MLOps and scalable AI infrastructure
