The Data Management & Governance Lead/Manager is a key role within the data team, responsible for defining and implementing master data management and data governance strategies. This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and governance of key data assets. The MDM & Governance Lead/Manager will work closely with stakeholders from businesses, legal, operations, tech to establish and maintain robust data management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy and Governance:

• Develop and execute comprehensive MDM strategies and roadmap that align with organizational objectives.
• Advise & Propose on data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Lead the definition and approach to establish data dictionaries, data standards, and metadata management practices.

Data Management

• Oversee the integration of master data across various client systems and platforms, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
• Direct the lifecycle of master data, including data profiling, cleansing, enrichment, and validation processes.
• Lead the design and implementation of Data Management tools and technologies to support strategic data initiatives
• Define data quality metrics and develop processes for continuous improvement of data quality.

Team Management

• Lead a team of data management professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management
• Collaborate with other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements.
• Work closely with Tech & IT to ensure alignment on data management practices and technology solutions.
• Facilitate cross-functional data governance councils and working groups to address data-related challenges and opportunities.

Project Management

• Manage MDM & Data Governance projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and track progress against key milestones
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with data management initiatives in relevant projects.
• Communicate project status, issues, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in data management, data governance, enterprise system conversions or a related discipline, preferably within a consulting environment
• Proficiency in MDM / DG tools and technologies
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data management
• Proven experience in managing and implementing MDM / DG projects
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data lifecycle management
• The ability to train and participate in the professional development of your direct reports
• The ability to contribute on multiple projects of differing scale and duration
• Relevant certification is a plus, i.e. DAMA certification.
