Get to Know the Team

Temporal is an open-source distributed system used to schedule and run asynchronous tasks within Grab. The Temporal cluster will help execute each workflow among a pool of self-hosted workers that make queries and execute code in your VPC. The Temporal Platform team will maintain the Temporal infrastructure and ensure the system runs stable and reliably.

Get to Know the Role

As a full-stack engineer, you would design main aspects of the Temporal infrastructure. You are expected to be involved in the platform's daily operation and in tasks like optimizing workflow scheduling and execution, ensuring the system's reliability, and developing new features or tools to improve the Temporal platform. You will report to Engineering Manager in Vietnam and work hybrid. This role is based in Vietnam.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• 70% Backend - 30% Frontend
• Design, deploy, and operate large-scale workflow orchestration infrastructure in the public cloud (AWS).
• Investigate, reduce, and resolve incidents such as production outages, performance degradation, or data loss. Write post-mortems and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Run upgrades (EKS, Operating System) and routine maintenance operations.
• Write design reviews, RFCs, and post-mortems, and participate in related activities.
• Support users in onboarding their use cases to the platform, with a focus on self-service and automation.
  
  

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ year of experience in backend development.
• Proficiency with backend technologies such as Golang, Ruby, Node.js, and Python (Golang is preferred).
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React or Angular (React is preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  
  

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of system performance and scaling.
  
  

Tech Stacks

• Backend: Golang, Ruby, Node.js, Python (Golang preferred)
• Frontend: ReactJS (preferred), or Angular
• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ScyllaDB
