This position is part of our Global Trade Compliance Team who act as the main contact for global trade compliance within Vietnam to manage general trade compliance mission in Vietnam site and execute export and import compliance operations activities. This position will work onsite at one of Coherent's offices in the Vietnam
* General Trade Compliance
Serve as the main contact for global trade compliance within Vietnam and support global trade compliance mission
Develop strong working relationships with government officials and respond to official requests; participate in trade organizations
Support implementation of global trade compliance program at Vietnam-based sites
Advise senior management on the impact of changes to trade compliance laws and regulations
Act as the main contact for global trade compliance within Vietnam
Ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products to and from domestic and international facilities
Conduct internal trade compliance training for employees and drive process improvement
Audit import/export processes as required, report results, and implement corrective actions.
Research and resolve trade compliance issues with third parties, including customs brokers, suppliers, and customers
Develop proactive strategic solution to support business operations
*Plan shipment (inbound and outbound
Ensure shipping docs compliance with Customs regulation
Work out accurate timeline for planning import.
Ensure that shipment information is accurate and provided by related department as well as forwarders on a timely basis.
Work with forwarders to ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are done efficiently with cost-effective.
Cooperate with other sections to meet customers' satisfaction.
*Export Compliance
Perform export hold release related activities
Perform jurisdiction and classification determinations and update site classification matrices
Manage the Vietnam related system for export holds
Complete license/permit application development for Vietnam exports
Act as regional lead liaison with foreign agencies, providing requested information or responses
Run a regular export compliance training for Vietnam sales, service and other employees
Execute local operations within framework of Global Trade Compliance goals and objectives
Coordinate with Global Trade Compliance on compliance with foreign export licenses
*Import Compliance
Strengthen import compliance program for Vietnam facilities
Manage performance of corporate customs brokers
Conduct internal audits of compliance processes and procedures and drive improvements
Conduct import brokerage "other regulatory agencies" reviews and compliance audits
Determine proper HS code classification
Determine proper valuation for goods imported into the Vietnam
Assure imports into Vietnam under free trade agreements/other duty reduction programs comply with local laws.
*Others
Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.

Educational Background
University degree in a related field required.
Working Experience
5+ years working in an import/export environment
Extensive knowledge of Vietnam import and export laws and regulations
Basic knowledge of ERP (Oracle) system
Special Abilities
Fluent Vietnamese and English required
Vietnam based candidates required
Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to actively listen
Ability to collaborate with others and work cross-functionally
Ability to effectively build relationships across all locations and positions within the organization
Ability to learn and understand organization and how it functions in order to apply that understanding to projects and assignments
