Get to Know the Team

Join the team that serves the very core of Grab — the Sentry team. Our systems handle billions of network messages daily for Grab's users, while our service orchestration and discovery platforms ensure the reliability of hundreds of Grab services. Collaborating with infrastructure, security, and product teams, we are looking for experienced engineers to strengthen our platform team.

Get to Know the Role

As part of our team, you will build high-performing solutions that Just Work. Your work will provide the stability and efficiency necessary for millions of daily users. This role is based in Vietnam and hybrid. You will report directly to Engineering Manager, who is based in Singapore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will build and own Grab's gateway systems, connecting millions of consumer devices with hundreds of backend services by Grab's service mesh..
• You will independently bring projects across teams end to end, from launch to rollout
• You will find and troubleshoot issues in Grab's entire infrastructure and codebase
• You will develop and operate control- and data-plane components, and resolve production incidents
• You will maintain the high bar of standards for code reviews and deployment processes.
• You will mentor peers and promote development and best practices while achieving excellent user experience
  
  

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Have at least 5 years of experience in a backend language Go, Scala, Java or C++.
• Have industry experience with Kubernetes (clusters and services), AWS, and Terraform
• Know how to develop distributed systems
• Architect solutions that use new technologies while harmonizing with legacy systems
• Know how to assume technical leadership as part of and beyond engineering team boundaries
• Have a very good understanding of Linux, networking and the internet (TCP/IP, HTTP/[123], gRPC, DNS)
• You have knowledge of software development best practices including version control (specifically Git), unit testing, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
