Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer in Vietnam to contribute to our internal tooling products used for our agents to serve Passengers, Drivers and Merchants. You will report to Engineering Manager, who is based in Vietnam and work in hybrid mode. This role is based in Vietnam.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design and enhance cutting edge services setting a high standard for availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of products
• Work with engineering team to explore and create new design / architectures geared towards scale and performance
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Collaborate with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications
• Work closely with infrastructure team in building and scaling back-end services as well as performing root cause analysis investigations
• Design, build, analyze and fix large-scale systems
• Learn full stack performance tuning and optimization
• Debug and modify complex, production software that serve millions of users in southeast asia
  
  

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• You need to have solid software engineering and coding skills. Specifically, we're looking for you to have at least 5 years of experience in a backend language
• You should help build front-end applications. You will need to be comfortable working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and directly contribute to the enhancement of our user interfaces.
• You understand building microservices architecture and have a good grasp of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and message queuing systems to develop our back-end services.
• Experience with relational databases, such as MySQL, is important.
• You have knowledge of software development best practices including version control (specifically Git), unit testing, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Experience deploying code in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments
• Tech Stack
• Core services: Golang, Redis, MySQL, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch on AWS.
• Code repository: GitLab, using CI tools like DataDog and Kibana.
• Experience with AWS or GCP and complex codebases.
