Overview

As the EDS System Simulation Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the simulation efforts related to the design, development, and optimization of electric drive systems for next-generation electric vehicles (EVs)
You collaborate with cross-functional teams including motor design, control systems, inverter hardware, and vehicle integration to accelerate innovation and ensure system-level performance targets..
You mentor and guide junior engineers in system simulation fields. You stay updated on latest advancements in EDS system and industry trends. You contribute R&D initiatives and identify new opportunities for EDS development.

Functional Job

Lead the simulation strategy and execution for electric drive systems, covering motor, inverter, and control interactions.
Develop high-fidelity models (e.g., coupled electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical) to support motor design optimization and trade-off analysis
Simulate drive system performance across vehicle drive cycles and validate control strategies under various operational conditions.
Establish co-simulation frameworks combining motor control, inverter behavior, and vehicle dynamics using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, Ansys, JMAG, or equivalent.
Oversee system-level efficiency, NVH, and thermal behavior simulation to inform design decisions.
Support functional safety and fault simulation studies to meet ISO 26262 and other automotive standards
Analyze measurement data from laboratory and field to identify potential root cause of issues and opportunities to optimize EDS performance and reliability.
Work closely with hardware and software engineers to integrate EDS control strategies, developing new EDS and new functionalities from concept to end product.
Participate in design reviews, providing expertise in control system design and integration. Specify requirements for EDS at system level.
Lead training sessions and present topics regarding system optimization
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in EDS technology and control systems to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor/Master/Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field
Minimum 05 years of working experience.
Minimum 03 years of experience in automotive industry.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, results-oriented attitude.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate technical concepts effectively.
Experience with automotive SPICE or similar quality management standards.
Familiarity with electric vehicle systems and their integration challenges.
Willingness to meet deadlines, self-management skills.
Have a clear job goal orientation, positive attitude, responsibility, honesty. Compliance with rules, regulations and high discipline.
Excellent communication in English and Vietnamese.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Open-mind and collabrative attitudes.
Leadership skills.
Proven experience leading complex simulation projects and cross-disciplinary technical teams.
Deep understanding of electric motor types (IPMSM, SPMSM, IM, SRM, SynRM,...)
Strong background in the field of control theory, power electronics, and battery systems.
Strong hands-on experience with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, JMAG, Maxwell, Ansys Motor-CAD, or equivalent
Strong understanding of e-motor control principles such as field-oriented control (FOC), Direct Torque Control (DTC), Model Predictive Control (MPC)
Experience with various PWM schemes such as SVM, SPWM, DPWM.
Hand-on experience with development platform (dSPace, Vector Tools, ETAS INCA, MATLAB SIM).
Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic tools.
Experience in model-based development of automotive software components with HIL Real-Time validation.
