Your role

The Sustainability Advisor, Event & Communication plays a pivotal role in advancing RMIT Vietnam’s sustainability goals through impactful engagement programs, strategic communications, and ESG integration. This position drives awareness, action, and cultural change across the university by leading the design and execution of flagship events, campaigns, and capacity-building initiatives. A key highlight of the role is leading Sustainability Week, RMIT’s annual flagship event that brings together students, staff, and external partners to celebrate, learn, and take action for sustainability.

Reports to: Manager, Sustainability

Key Accountabilities

Sustainability Engagement & Communications

• Develop and lead an annual calendar of sustainability engagement activities and events aligned with RMIT’s sustainability strategy and global goals.
• Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of Sustainability Week, RMIT Vietnam’s flagship sustainability initiative, ensuring wide participation, innovative programming, and measurable impact.
• Design and implement creative communications campaigns and educational tools to promote sustainability awareness and behavior change among students and staff.
• Manage all sustainability-related communications platforms and channels (website, newsletters, social media, etc.), ensuring consistent, inspiring, and informative messaging.
  
  

ESG & Data Management

• Contribute to the articulation and implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices at RMIT.
• Collect, analyze, and report on key sustainability metrics and performance indicators to inform strategy and compliance.
• Provide regular updates and insights to internal stakeholders, support ESG assessments, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  
  

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Support

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to embed sustainability principles in key programs, operations, and community initiatives.
• Provide communications and logistical support for the RMIT Vietnam Sustainability Committee and other institutional sustainability initiatives.
  
  

Other tasks: Undertake any other duties as required by the Manager, Sustainability.

Key Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Environmental Management, Business Management, Digital Marketing, Project Management, or any equivalent.
• Minimum 05- year experience in Project Management or Event Management in a corporation.
• Demonstrated event management skills from planning through to implementation, including the ability to deliver against targets, timelines and budgets.
• Understanding of sustainability/SDGs/green building certificates is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of management communication channels.
• Experience in engaging with others to build strong stakeholder engagement demonstrating a creative, innovative, and enthusiastic approach.
• Proven knowledge of sustainability concepts, including comprehensive experience in planning and implementing sustainability initiatives.
• Good influencing and challenging skills.
• Ability to liaise with diverse clients and stakeholders with the ability to promote change initiatives.
• High level of organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks, to prioritize and to meet timelines in a constantly changing environment.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, including coordination, liaison, negotiation, and multicultural communication.

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 6.0 (or equivalent Linguaskill 160).
