Get to Know the Team

Grab is Southeast Asia's leading super-app, offering services such as deliveries, mobility, financial services, enterprise services, and more to millions of users. Our AI Automation Team is focused on creating end-to-end automated ML/AI solutions to within Grab's marketplace. These challenges include experiments, embeddings, recommendations, and large-scale marketplace optimizations. We are a hybrid working team, searching for lead machine learning engineers to help make our vision a reality by developing and refining advanced ML and experiment platforms.

Get to Know the Role

In this hands-on role, you will build large-scale machine learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization solutions. Your work will directly affect Grab's marketplace, serving tens of thousands of consumers, drivers, and merchants. We are looking for a solid background in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization, experience developing scalable ML solutions for complex problems, a good grasp of the software development life cycle, and familiarity with multiple regression, classification, and optimization problems.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will lead the development, and deployment of machine learning models and report to the Senior Engineering Manager
• You will collaborate with teams to understand needs and improve solutions.
• You will architect and develop reinforcement learning frameworks to train and run algorithms at scale.
• You will manage machine learning applications through their entire lifecycle.
• You will design and implement algorithms to extract insights and identify trends, patterns, and relationships from high-volume, high-dimensional data.
• You will participate in code and design reviews to uphold high engineering standards.
• You will participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot, reduce, and resolve issues.
• You will mentor junior machine learning engineers and offer constructive feedback.
  
  

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Strong background in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization: 10 years of experience in these areas is crucial for developing the models and algorithms required.
• Software development practices: Experience writing maintainable, testable code is important for managing machine learning applications.
• Turn business problems into ML/AI projects: An understanding of how to translate needs into machine learning solutions.
• Experience with version control systems (VCS): Proficiency with tools like Git is necessary for managing code.
• Proficiency in ML frameworks: Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch for building models.
• Proficiency in Python: Most of the development work will be in Python.
• Experience with big data frameworks: Familiarity with Spark or Ray to analyze large datasets.
• Develop production-quality ML pipelines: Ability to create efficient, scalable machine learning pipelines.
