* GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:
- Manage R&D team in various R&D development and innovation projects
- Participate in process development projects
- Supporting in improvement projects of other departments such as production, TD, QA,…
* RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES & AUTHORITIES:
* Main responsibility:
1. Research & Development:
- Lead the R&D efforts for searching new materials, colors for outdoor furniture products (including plastic products) with a focus on materials such as Wood (Eucalyptus, Acacia,), Metal (Aluminum, Steel …), and Plastic (Injection Molding, Extrusion …), Composites Materials….
- Leading R&D Team to research and develop new surface coatings system and painting techniques for outdoor furniture to enhance durability and aesthetics.
- Investigate and identify sustainable alternatives to traditional wood, including using wood by-products, sustainable materials, and other innovative materials.
- Cooperating with other departments like Design, TD, PI, and PPD to drive product innovation through materials optimization and improving manufacturing processes to meet market demands and sustainability standards requirements.
2. Material Sourcing & Testing:
- Cooperate with the Compliance team and Test center conduct material testing to ensure performance and quality standards as required for each new product.
- Collaborate with supply chain department to source and evaluate new potential materials in products development.
- Support Procurement and QA in developing partnerships with vendors for specialized materials, including recycled materials or substitutes for wood, to reduce environmental impact.
- Coordinate Suppliers and Production for trial of new materials / processes.
Review the production work instructions and ensure it meets the requirements in TDS/MSDS, process scheme of supplier
3. Product Design & Prototype Development:
- Collaborate with design teams and Product implementation (PI) to create prototypes for new furniture concepts that relate to new Materials / Coatings.
4. Quality Control & Sustainability:
- Together with QA, QA incoming and Procurement in Oversee quality control measures for new materials and finished products.
- Focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, including reducing waste and exploring alternative materials for product longevity.
