Job Summary

An excellent Food Business Unit Manager (BUM) job based in Ho Chi Minh City has just arisen at one of the companies specializing in sourcing raw materials.

Job Responsibilities

Scope (the way the position contributes to and impacts on the organization):

  • Business Unit Manager (BUM) is an integral part of Revenue Generation. their Role Involves engaging potential clients, driving new businesses and increase sales.
  • BUM must excel in client acquisition, effective presentations, technical support, persuasion, objection handling finding creative solutions with proactivity, and effective team management.
  • BUM must be able to determine what drivers the client is implementing for a given product. e.g. is this product price driven or market driven.
  • BUM also provides technical assistance to clients as well as to his/her subordinates when in need and therefore dictates that clients and subordinates must have complete understanding of the product's application, chemical nature, alternatives etc.
  • BUM in general would spend 70% of his/her time traveling to and visiting prospective buyers and current clients whilst the other 30% is spent in-house in preparation for selling days, self-learning, and management tasks.

General Responsibilities

  • Creates client-visit itinerary for the next week and submits this the Friday before to BM.
  • Effectively Manage assigned team, maximize sales, and expand ingredient offerings, not only to assigned customers but new customers developed by her/his team.
  • Visit clients to enhance service, increase sales as well as margin of repeated orders and identify new opportunities of new businesses, ingredients and customers.
  • Works with the BM, Technical team and Group Sales Coordinator, to prepare, submit, and monitor quotations and samples, it’s proper follow up and feedback.
  • Manages Food Sales Coordinator to ensure all emails & documents sent to concerned suppliers and customers are accurate and on time.
  • Supervises and coaches Food Sales Coordinator to make sure that all orders are being followed up closely as well as secure repeat orders.
  • Prepares Weekly Summary Report, which includes client inquiries, sales, and market updates (i.e. client-wise, supplier-wise, product-wise) to facilitate the development of selling strategies of her team.
  • Assists clients in product innovations proactively to increase businesses and turnover. This is achieved by providing frequent updates from the technical team, her/his knowledge and market trends.
  • Handles and addresses problems to the BM which may arise in the course of client’s transaction i.e. shipment delays, etc.
  • Assists the Credit & Collection Department in payment monitoring of assigned clients.
  • Monitors all existing businesses, the statuses of L/C deadlines, shipments, or any issue pertaining to a client’s order.
  • Provides creative ideas and suggestions for better sales productivity, client coverage, and time management in a weekly monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Produces an annual Sales Forecast of his/her own clients as well as the ones of his /her subordinates.
  • Reports weekly the sales performance of the team to the BM as well as replies to accounting team reports about strategies to increase the weekly revenue and secure & recover lost orders.
  • Find, propose and source competent suppliers for the Food Industry in cooperation with Technical team and BM. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the BM, or designate.

General Required Regular Reports/Outlooks

  • Proceeds Quotations for Clients (submitted to BM for approval before sending to client).
  • Does Weekly Summary Report.
  • Makes Client Evaluation Report to determine business potential vs. existing business as well as market survey before starting a new project (submitted to BM as required).
  • Prepares Annual and monthly Sales Forecast frequently and when required by BM.
  • All correspondence to suppliers must seek approval from BM and/or HQ via company mail keeping BM and HQ in cc as well as use the mail.
  • Claims must be reported within the day directly to BM, and handle in professional manner as per latest Claim Procedure.
  • All reports must be sent to BM.
  • Discusses Supplier visits including programs and cost within Vietnam with BM to obtain the latter’s consensus.
  • Asks for BM’s approval on your holidays’ request.
  • Makes client-visit itinerary for the next week and completes Weekly Summary Report as requested.
  • Prepares a yearly national trips plan according to the market potential and customers priority and revenue.
  • Proposes and discusses with BM about the trade fairs that shall be visited.

Specific Responsibilities For YOU

  • Handles all Food Ingredients/ Sweet and Savoury businesses.
  • Products: Starches, antioxidants, phosphates, cheese powders, flavors, fruit powder, protein, lactose, dairy powders, colors.
  • Functional Areas: Dairy, meat processing, instant noodles, confectionary, beverages.

Your Required Regular Reports/Outlooks

  • Revises/ discuss your client-visit itinerary for the next week as well your Weekly Summary Report with BM.
  • Get BM's approval for Offer forms. Leads weekly sales meetings for reviewing sales activities and strategies as well as Monday Management meeting as scheduled on Mondays.
  • Proposes to BM and TM proactively on products that shall be developed on monthly basis.
  • Discusses and gets BM’s approval for your travelling cash advance, your travelling expense forms and your entertainment expenses with concerned customers and suppliers, based on the expected sales target for each customer assigned and its potential to developed.
  • Shares market and product information with the whole team.
  • Discusses Supplier visits including programs and cost within Vietnam with BM then obtain BM’s approval of the travelling expense amount based on the expected sales target for each customer assigned and its potential to developed.
  • Puts in full use of his/ her client-visit itinerary as well as the ones of Food TSRs.

Note

  • This Job Description (JD) is created for the purpose to help the respective BUM understand his/ her responsibilities as well as improve the communication among the departmental members.
  • This JD is not constant and is subject to review/ revise to meet the requirements of LV Rep. Office as well as HQ.
  • This JD is also used for supporting the yearly performance appraisal of the concerned staff.

Experience Requirements

  • Productive sales experience in similar field of not less than five (5) years, with strong inclination towards sales, negotiation, persuasion, objection handling, new business development and client contact.
  • High proficiency in both written and oral English.
  • Customer-focused, results-oriented, team worker, solutions-driven.
  • Meticulous, energetic, systematic, self-driven, and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Facility to report regularly to superiors without prodding.
  • Computer literate in Windows Software and CRM.
  • Capability/potential for acquiring higher responsibilities.

Education requirements

  • Graduate of BS in Food Chemist/ Food Technologist, or similar course.
